Handel’s Messiah<br />

OLYMOORSIDE Choral Society is taking part in a<br />
shared performance of Handel’s Messiah involving<br />
120 singers joined by the Allegranza Chamber Orchestra,<br />
harpsichord and organ – all under the baton of Chesterfield<br />
musical director and concert promoter, Andrew Marples.<br />
The concert venue is Sheffield’s Victoria Hall and the date<br />
Saturday, 27th April, at 7pm.<br />

Memory Marketplace<br />

OCAL action group Dementia friendly Chesterfield is to<br />
hold a Memory Marketplace at Chesterfield FC’s SMH<br />
Group stadium.<br />
The free event on Wednesday, <strong>May</strong> 1st, will gather together<br />
local organisations that provide support for people living with<br />
dementia and their families.<br />
Wendy Blunt, who started the group in 2016, said: “At the<br />
Memory Market we hope to make people aware of this important<br />
work that is going on in Chesterfield to support families.<br />
“If you are living with dementia, know someone with dementia<br />
or would just like to support us then do come along, have a chat<br />
and join us for a free buffet lunch. There will be activities too.”<br />
The event is from 11am -2pm and parking is free.<br />

Military expert Simon Fowler is to speak on Researching Your<br />
Military Ancestors, both online and at St Thomas’ Centre,<br />
Brampton, at 7.30pm. Visitors welcome.<br />

A full day event on Saturday, 18th <strong>May</strong>, sees the society present<br />
their annual Fair ‘Who Do You Think You Are’.<br />
with the theme Everything Arkwright. There will be displays, free<br />
talks and a genealogy help desk.<br />
Venue is the Arkwright Centre, Hardwick Drive, Arkwright Town<br />
and the event runs from 10am-4pm. Admission £2.<br />
Postcard artwork<br />

HE arty Chesterfield Postcard Show is back!<br />
Take along the family to explore miniature artworks at<br />
West Studios. A collaborative effort between local artist, Dave<br />
Elsom, and community arts charity, Junction Arts, this year’s<br />
show is called ‘Memories Are Made of This’.<br />
The exhibition runs from Tuesday, 7th <strong>May</strong>, to Friday 17th <strong>May</strong>,<br />
10am-4pm, and is free to visit.<br />

traditional concert band music to suit all ages takes<br />

IGHT Support Derbyshire is holding a series of<br />
information events where people can discover what<br />
support is available and try out a range of equipment<br />
including talking books and electronic reading aids.<br />
A local event takes place on Monday, 24th June, 10.30am-1pm,<br />
at St Thomas Centre, Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield.<br />
