Handel’s Messiah

OLYMOORSIDE Choral Society is taking part in a
shared performance of Handel’s Messiah involving
120 singers joined by the Allegranza Chamber Orchestra,
harpsichord and organ – all under the baton of Chesterfield
musical director and concert promoter, Andrew Marples.
The concert venue is Sheffield’s Victoria Hall and the date
Saturday, 27th April, at 7pm.

Memory Marketplace

OCAL action group Dementia friendly Chesterfield is to
hold a Memory Marketplace at Chesterfield FC’s SMH
Group stadium.
The free event on Wednesday, May 1st, will gather together
local organisations that provide support for people living with
dementia and their families.
Wendy Blunt, who started the group in 2016, said: “At the
Memory Market we hope to make people aware of this important
work that is going on in Chesterfield to support families.
“If you are living with dementia, know someone with dementia
or would just like to support us then do come along, have a chat
and join us for a free buffet lunch. There will be activities too.”
The event is from 11am -2pm and parking is free.

next meeting is on Tuesday, 7th May.
Military expert Simon Fowler is to speak on Researching Your
Military Ancestors, both online and at St Thomas’ Centre,
Brampton, at 7.30pm. Visitors welcome.

A full day event on Saturday, 18th May, sees the society present
their annual Fair ‘Who Do You Think You Are’.
with the theme Everything Arkwright. There will be displays, free
talks and a genealogy help desk.
Venue is the Arkwright Centre, Hardwick Drive, Arkwright Town
and the event runs from 10am-4pm. Admission £2.

HE arty Chesterfield Postcard Show is back!
Take along the family to explore miniature artworks at
West Studios. A collaborative effort between local artist, Dave
Elsom, and community arts charity, Junction Arts, this year’s
show is called ‘Memories Are Made of This’.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday, 7th May, to Friday 17th May,
10am-4pm, and is free to visit.

CONCERT featuring modern light, classical and
traditional concert band music to suit all ages takes
place at Coal Aston Village Hall on May 18th, at 2pm.
