to join us in Lincoln Park beside Buena Vista Branch Library for our 

annual Summer Reading Kickoff Party! 

We’ll have free activities, games, and raffles for adults and kids! 

The Jazz Cartel will return this year to play a lively music set

Registration required — In this hands-on workshop, music professional Be Hussey 

will demonstrate how to produce a song using Logic Pro. Learn how to record audio, 

see the Library’s sound recording booth in action, and practice creating music using 

free beats and sound loops in Logic Pro X.

A coloring club geared toward adults who want to slow

join us as we learn some mindfulness tips and relax, 

color, and meet new people.

Registration required — Silent Reading Club brings readers together for an evening 

of focused reading time and opportunities to socialize. Bring a book, grab a cup of tea, 

chat with a neighbor, and find a comfy spot to settle in for a block of silent reading time.

Registration required — Pulitzer Prize-winning author and USC Professor Viet Thanh Nguyen 

joins the acclaimed writer Naomi Hirahara for a special afternoon conversation. 

The two authors will dive into a discussion of Nguyen’s 2023 memoir, A Man of Two Faces 

—a formally inventive mix of history, personal reflection, and the story of his family’s forced 

migration from Vietnam to the United States.

the Peruvian Ensemble!

free outdoor concert. From the enchanting melodies

communities of the coastal areas (Criollo style) and 

the Black people from the villages south of Lima 

(Afro-Peruvian style), INCA brings the magic of the

together 18 library districts in Los Angeles County! From June 1 - July 27, 

all participating libraries, including Burbank Public Library, will be reading 

and discussing L.A. Weather by María Amparo Escandón.This community 

reading program fosters collaboration, education, and conversation across 

our county and emphasizes the power of connected libraries to create 

connected communities. To learn more about this year’s book, visit

• Simultaneous use of the title will be available on Libby, starting in June 

(Spanish and English versions).
