Screen Printing

For grades 4-6 — Registration required 

Screen printing involves creating a pattern on a mesh 

screen and then pushing ink through the screen to 

imprint the design on the below surface. Sound like fun? 

Then come check out the screening printing hack we’re 

using and create a masterpiece with us!

Is your child

Do they need a safe and 

cozy place to practice? 

Do they like animals? 

Sign up for a reading session with a therapy dog 

or rabbit at the library! Every month, a BARK or 

Pet Partners therapy animal (and their human) will 

visit the library to provide support and encourage 

practicing reading skills. Reading to a therapy dog 

or rabbit is a proven strategy that helps kids build 

up their reading confidence with a calm listener. 

You can sign up for a time slot starting the week 

before the meeting at www.burbanklibrary.org/kids. 

Our visits will be on: Saturdays, March 2 & 16 from 

3-4 pm in the Buena Vista Branch Story Time Room.

The three Burbank Public Library locations welcome 

450,000 visitors annually, with an additional 350,000 

accessing Library services online. The eLibrary is 

increasingly a full Library branch. Through our website, 

burbanklibrary.org, you can meet many of the same 

needs as you would with an in-person visit. You can 

get an information or research question answered by 

email, attend certain programs in virtual formats, and 

access a collection of hundreds of thousands of eBooks, 

eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and streaming music and 

video. 

In a survey conducted in fall 2022, Library patrons expressed the desire 

for improvements to the eCollection. The Burbank City Council responded 

by providing extra funding in the 2023-24 fiscal year to build up resources 

in that collection. As a result, if you are an eBook reader, you should notice 

significantly decreased wait times for items, more selection, and better 

ways to recommend titles to us for addition to the eCollection. 

The Library’s eCollection is made up primarily of three services: 

• Libby, from OverDrive, has eBooks and eAudiobooks for all ages, 

including a Spanish-language collection. 

• hoopla has eBooks and eAudiobooks, plus comics, music, and movies 

for all ages. Items in hoopla can be checked out by multiple users at 

once, so it’s a great option if you are looking for a book club selection 

or a title for a reading assignment. 

• Kanopy is a streaming video service with film and TV shows, notably 

the Criterion Collection, many BBC titles, and a kids channel. 

Haven’t tried a Library eBook? The eLibrary is available 24 hours a day, 

7 days a week via the Library website. If you need a Library card, you can 

register for one online for immediate access to the eCollection. And if 

you want a tutorial in the services or how to access eBooks from your 

smartphone or tablet, check out our events calendar for upcoming 

sessions of the Smartphone Tech Help program.
