Library Services Director
Burbank Public Library supports elementary
and secondary school learners in many ways,
primarily through the BConnectED partnership
with the Burbank Unified School District.
Through BConnectED, every BUSD student
gains automatic access to the Library’s print
and online collections using their student ID
number. This opens a world of learning and
support to students, including books to promote reading skills
and guide research projects, online tutoring, online test prep,
computer access, and spaces to study or work on projects.

Learning doesn’t stop at high school, of course. The Library
offers numerous learning resources for adults as well, including
free access to LinkedIn Learning and Coursera. For many, adult
learning paths are connected with job prospects, and this fall,
the Library will launch a new program, Job Connect Plus, funded
by the US Small Business Administration. Job Connect Plus will
engage job seekers in setting goals – such as retraining,
certification, interview skills, or identifying aptitudes – and set
them up for success in a free structured and personalized 12-week
program with peer and coaching support. Visit burbanklibrary.org/
jobconnect to learn more about this new opportunity as well as
other services for job seekers.

bubble making! Special guest “bubblists” from Best Bubble Parties will provide
all the bubble making materials, including tips on how to make the best bubbles.
Kinder-Steps: ABCs and Letter Recognition

Registration required — For preschoolers ages 3-5 and their caregivers
Is your child getting ready to attend Kindergarten or even start preschool soon?
Join us as we explore the ABCs and letter recognition with fun hands-on activities
that are easy to recreate at home using everyday objects.

and using TinkerCAD to create your first project under
the theme “Tools and Gadgets” (such as keychains,
bottle openers, wall hooks and hangers, etc.).

Lab, recording professional Be Hussey will demonstrate
setting up microphones, connecting to the digital audio
interface, editing and processing the recording.

Book Launch: Letters to My City by Mike Sonksen

Over decades, Mike Sonksen has paid tribute to the Southland’s people, topographies, cultures, and histories.
His latest collection of poems and essays, Letters to My City, continues that legacy, demonstrating once again
the poet’s keen eye for beauty—and struggle—in the place we call home. Sonksen will be joined by Allan Aquino,
professor of Asian American Studies at CSU Northridge, for a discussion of the book’s topics and themes.

Job Connect Plus is a new program to help job seekers, those in a
career transition, or individuals needing to build up their work skills.
Coming this fall, the 12-week program will pair participants with
one-on-one assistance, coaching, and the extra support they need
