A welcome set of notes from Gibraltar, undated but presumed to be from the turn of the year.
Bland still operate, using about 12 of the inevitable Toyota Coasters.
Calypso Tours and Calypso Transport, once under common ownership, are now separate companies under
different ownership and management.
Calypso Tours run a fleet of 22 seat Toyota Coasters - G83505, G87860/2/3/4, G89504, G94025/6 were noted
during the writers visit.
Calypso Transport run bus service 10. Fleet numbers have been allocated to the buses, but are displayed inside
the buses only, close to the drivers cab – presumably introduced due to the fitting of Wayfarer ticket machines.
Atlantean G59681 is numbered 1. They have taken the following into stock: 3 (G89354) MAN D2566 / Waggon
Union O47/34D ex BVG Berlin 1783; 4 (G89355) MAN D2566 / Waggon Union PO49/35D ex BVG Berlin 3091;
and 5 (G94335) Blue Bird / Blue Bird B45D ex USAF in Germany. 5 (G46710) & 6 (G46713) both Toyota
Coasters have be withdrawn with the intention of donating them to a local football club. The Ld B45 (B45.06) /
ECW H51/35D has gained fleet number 2 and registration G77960.
Exchange Tours have ceased operations, G60794 Ka S212HD C43F passing to Parodytur.
Gibraltar Deck have ceased operations. G35665 Ld PD3A (610086) / Ar has been scrapped.
Gibraltar Motorways went into receivership in the early 90’s. 43 TMC the unique AEC Rl IV / Crossley-Duple
used on the London-Gibraltar express service until the 60’s, was towed to the coach park when the garage was
cleared and later scrapped. G52117 Mza T3500 / Co C30F and G52118 Pegaso 5036 / Co C53F passed to
Rock City Services. G60825 Bd SB5 (GW457640) / Ml B36F has gone to pastures new but unknown.
