Replies from project
proponent
The Regional Officer & the
representative of the
Member Secretary, GPCB,
mentioned that this Public
Hearing was for locally
affected persons only and
not for contractors or
vendors.
Mr. Sangram Kadam, Project
Consultant, on behalf of
Rajsha Chemicals said the
company welcomed this
suggestion and informed
that the Company proposed
to develop additional
greenbelt on the land
adjacent to the site, outside
the factory, in conjunction
with the Gram Panchayat /
Local Administration.
The Regional Officer, GPCB & The Additional Collector called out to the assembled affected
people to raise some more questions related to the project. However when there were no more
queries raised the Additional Collector gave the following suggestions:
• Greenbelt should be developed within project premises to the extent feasible; it should
be well planned, and incorporated in the final submissions.
• Use of captive power plants by industries where possible could reduce the burden on the
state government utilities freeing power supply for irrigation and domestic use.
• To reconsider the water balance, so as to ensure uniformity in the input and output.
• Steps taken by the Project Proponents to reduce water pollution were appreciated by
him. He however suggested that statements such as zero percolation of leachate into
groundwater and soil may be impractical in practice and therefore statements made in
presentation should be realistic.
• He insisted that details of the rain water harvesting scheme be incorporated in the final
presentation / documentation for ground water re-charge.
• Suggest, if possible methods for reducing noise pollution at Tundav and Manjusar
villages, where noise levels are slightly higher than permitted.
• Considering the size of the expansion, the Company may consider employing more than
20 workers as mentioned in the presentation.
• He appreciated the social / charitable steps taken by the Company and suggested that
the Company should contribute towards education and health facilities in the area. They
could also arrange medical check-ups for the affected people in addition to the
Company’s own employees.
• It was his opinion that well-to-do people should pro-actively help government in local
community development.
• He appreciated that the Company was financially supporting well-known agencies /
NGOs of different denominations such as the Missionaries of Charity. He further
suggested that Company could encourage education of children and motivate them by
rewarding outstanding performance in academics.
• Suitable programmes for improvement of infant health and pregnant women may be
carried out in the immediate vicinity of the project site in conjunction with local
administration.
The Regional Officer then asked the Project Proponent to make their representation for the
above.
