Prior<strong>it</strong>ies <strong>for</strong> Delivering on the Strategy<br />

The team identified five key prior<strong>it</strong>ies as follows <strong>for</strong> putting the strategy in place. These are intended to define individual<br />

streams <strong>of</strong> activ<strong>it</strong>y that can be carried on in parallel, relatively independently <strong>of</strong> each other.<br />

Prior<strong>it</strong>y 1:<br />

Building and communicating market insight to industry stakeholders.<br />

Prior<strong>it</strong>y 2:<br />

Developing and setting the <strong>Cultural</strong> Tourism product ‘agenda’ – the set <strong>of</strong> events, themes and concepts – both<br />

national and regional – on which <strong>Cultural</strong> Tourism products are built.<br />

Prior<strong>it</strong>y 3:<br />

Stimulating, facil<strong>it</strong>ating and rewarding productive conversations among members <strong>of</strong> the ‘supply side’ <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cultural</strong><br />

Tourism to build products consistent w<strong>it</strong>h these agendas that meet the needs <strong>of</strong> target consumers.<br />

Prior<strong>it</strong>y 4:<br />

In<strong>for</strong>ming, and in some instances subsidising, effective marketing <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cultural</strong> Tourism products to general and/or<br />

niche vis<strong>it</strong>ors.<br />

Prior<strong>it</strong>y 5:<br />

Advocating <strong>for</strong> the ongoing creation and improvement <strong>of</strong> underlying <strong>Cultural</strong> Tourism assets (e.g. buildings, s<strong>it</strong>es,<br />

exhib<strong>it</strong>ions, per<strong>for</strong>ming arts, etc.) on a sustainable basis that optimises their value over the long term.<br />

Behind each <strong>of</strong> these prior<strong>it</strong>ies lies a series <strong>of</strong> concrete recommendations <strong>for</strong> implementing these prior<strong>it</strong>ies that <strong>for</strong>m the<br />

basis <strong>of</strong> the Action Plan <strong>for</strong> the Strategy.<br />
