San Francisco Mts; no mountains by this name can be located on any map<br />

or in any gazeteer available to us; however, between collections at this locality<br />

A. Busck visited San Cristobal (~011. 142) and there is a village <strong>of</strong> San Fran-<br />

cisco in the mountains about 7 miles northwest <strong>of</strong> this city; therefore we be-<br />

lieve that this material came from the mountains near the village <strong>of</strong> San Fran-<br />

cisco and that it was variously mislabeled St. Francisco Mts, S. Francisco<br />

Mts and San Francisco Mts: 2. Toxorhynchites (L. ) haitiensis; 5. Wyeomyia<br />

(w.) sororcula; 11. Aedes (H.) albonotatus; 12. Culex (C.) duplicator; 17. Cu-<br />

lex (C. ) lamentator; 19. Culex (Mel. ) inhibitator.<br />

Santo Domingo and vicinity: 1. Anopheles (N. ) albimanus; 3. Wyeomyia<br />

(W.) glaucocephala; 4. Wyeomyia (W.) ochrura; 6. Sabethes (S.) bipartipes; 7.<br />

TYPE: Syntypes d, ?, eggs, larvae and pupae, Interandian region<br />

(provinces <strong>of</strong> Azuay, Ca5ar, Carchi, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Imbabura, Loja,<br />

Pichincha, Tungurahua), no data on specific localities, dates or collectors (LU).<br />

Holotype cf with associated larval and pupal skins, Hacienda Chiltazon (Carchi),<br />

elev. 2880 m, Ott 1954, V. H. Andrade (CEIE). BIONOMICS: Larvae in caves<br />

in p&am0 zone.<br />

4. Trichoprosopon (T.) andinum Levi’-Castillo, 1953. TYPE: Holotype d<br />

with associated larval and pupal skins, ancient mines <strong>of</strong> Macuchi (Cotopaxi),<br />

elev. 1500 m, date not specified, R. Levi-Castillo<br />

in bamboo stumps filled with rainwater.<br />
