This beginning-level class will teach you how to get the most out of a compact
point-and-shoot or DSLR camera and improve the quality of your images. We
will review the functions and modes on your camera and discuss navigating
the menu, white balance, how to use the sports setting, and devices for use
with your camera, as well as computer programs for editing and enhancing
your pictures. You will learn how to adjust and use functions such as digital
flash off, shooting modes, close-up macro, exposure (how light/dark image
is shot), and ISO. You must bring your digital camera and manual (which
might be online) to class. Limit of 14.
3 sessions on Tuesdays (Feb 12-Feb 26) 7:00-9:00 pm
131-180 NT Northfield (seniors $58)/ $72
If you take pictures with your iPhone or Android phone, this class is a must.
You will learn how to use the camera’s settings and controls to capture unique
photographs and video clips. Discover how a cell phone can create works of
art from snapshots of people and everyday events. You will do in-class shooting
exercises utilizing your camera’s setting to create images with dramatic
light and texture, and learn settings to make the most of natural light. You’ll
discover special camera apps that allow tilt-shift, HDR, 360 degree, time-lapse
and fast shutter burst that mimic effects in professional DSLRs. You’ll learn
about apps for editing, stylizing, posting and transmitting your photos. Please
bring your fully charged smart phone. Note: It is recommended that you take
the Digital Photography class first or be familiar with digital photography.
This class will show you how to apply those principles to photography with
a smart phone. Limit of 14.
