took over the airport six months ago. We are building<br />

a brand new terminal that will open in 2014.” Gopalan<br />

said that he is using the show to look at luxury brands.<br />

“Most of the visitors to the Maldives are premium highend<br />

tourists. Forever the UK has been the single most<br />

important source of tourists – last year it changed and<br />

became the Chinese.”<br />

show is an opportunity to examine new<br />

trends. “We are looking at the future.<br />

Our business is in Australia and New<br />

Zealand in particular, but Chinese visitors<br />

are starting to come direct. 60% of our<br />

business is already from Japan.”<br />

FrEd PArK, chief buyer, GIA-GG, merchandising<br />

team, Lotte Duty Free. “This show provides a good<br />

opportunity to get to see the new products and<br />

also some products from other brands that you<br />

don’t always get to see. One thing I have noticed<br />

is that more and more confectionery companies<br />

seem to be coming to this show in Singapore.”<br />
