Sitting on steel artillery wheels the 4 speed truck is stated by the vendor to be in excellent condition, the cab interior was professionaly refurbished in blue to contrast with the smart red livery and all of the instruments are stated to be in full working order. Mot’d until August 2008 the Austin is a must for shows and rallies, a most eye catching commercial vehicle supplied with Mot, old green logbook and current V5C. 1773 1925 WALLIS & STEEVENS ADVANCE ROAD ROLLER Reg. No. RO 895 Engine No. 7836 Built: July 1925 Motion Forming part of the Holkham Hall collection, Norfolk, this wonderfully original Luton registered engine has formed part of the collection for many years having been in the ownership of Richard ‘Dick’ Joice since at least 1961. In recent years the engine has seen little use and only occassionally steamed and has been a static exhibit in the museum. The requirement for space and rationalisation of the exhibits means that the engine is now surplus to requirements. The engine offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a road roller with good provenance and in good condition whilst also requiring work to bring it into a serviceable steam roller. Last hydraulic test to 210psi in 1998, last yearly examination 2003. Prospective purchasers are advised to inspect the previous boiler inspections available from the auctioneers. EEssttiimmaattee ££2255,,000000 -- ££3355,,000000 1774 MARSHALL SONS & CO LTD STEAM TRACTOR “Gleneagles” Reg. No. SL 1314 Engine No. 83217 Built: March 1928 Motion: Singe cylinder, piston valve From the same stable as the 1913 Marshall Sons & Co Ltd steam tractor and having been the subject of a conversion and very well presented. Not much is known of its early history although it was originally registered with its existing Dundee registration number on 4th April 1928. In the early Seventies it was in the ownership of a Dr William Young of Falkirk, which is presumably where it acquired its name ‘Gleneagles’. From information supplied it is understood that the engine was re-tubed in 1972 and 1998. The front tube plate was also built up to original thickness in 1998. The engine has not been rallied in recent years and would have only seen limited use since its last hydraulic test. The last boiler examination dated May 2000 quotes a safe operating limited of 160psi. The engine will be offered for sale with a copy of a duplicate logbook, previously boiler certificate and the front roller section. EEssttiimmaattee ££5500,,000000 -- ££7700,,000000 35 1775 1913 MARSHALL SONS & CO LTD STEAM TRACTOR Reg. No. BE7805 Engine No. 61307 Built: May 1913 Motion: Compound slide valve This superby presented Lincoln registered steam tractor originally started life as a road roller and is believed to have been used for thrashing and general haulage work according to information supplied by the vendors. Following the end of the WWII it was owned by several Lincolnshire farmers including J W Kitchen of Saxilby and H Epton & Son of New Bolingbroke, Boston. By 1958 the engine had found its way into the ownership of T B Raisley of Holywell, Huntingdon. It was sold at Tom Raisley’s renowned auction sale, following his death, at Holywell in 1980. The late George Byerley purchased this engine from Mr K Peach of Bubwith, Yorks in 1992 in a derelict and dismantled condition. An extensive restoration was undertaken including the manufacture of new front wheels to replace the front roller, axle, smoke box, perch bracket, lagging, brass caps, coal bunker, which were all handmade in the workshop by Mr Byerley at Welton Hall. He also states in notes written before his death that ‘there are over 60 hand made parts in each front wheel’. Excellent solid rubber tyres have also been fitted all round at a cost of £2,000, which Mr Byerley reflects is three times the cost of the engine when sold in 1913. In addition Mr Byerley adds that 1,000 hrs of work went into the restoration of this engine. The engine represents an excellent restoration and conversion of which the deceased could be rightly proud. The engine is offered for sale with a buff continuation logbook showing the date of original registration as being 4th March 1921. The last hydraulic test was carried out by Vulcan on 17th March 1999 to 200psi and it will be offered for sale with a current boiler certificate. EEssttiimmaattee ££5500,,000000 -- ££7700,,000000
