Later Leo Belgicus: only the north of the Netherlands
Eventually the north and the south of the low countries where divided. The
south remaining under Spanish rule, the North independent. Moreover the
part of The Netherlands that is called ‘Holland’ became totally dominant.
This is reflected in the new Leo Belgicus. It only covers Holland, Utrecht
and Zeeland (that gave its name to New Zealand), the rest of the country
is left out.
