Moog announced The Delay, its
second 500 Series module at AES
2012. It is the Moog delay with
bucket brigade technology but
with updated components for the
professional studio environment.
This is the first analogue delay for
the 500 Series format, and features
800ms delay time, assignable CV/
tap tempo input on the front panel,
plus MIDI on the front panel. Moog
has also announced a decrease in
the price of its first 500 module, The
Ladder, from £649 to £549.

Cartec Audio has launched The THC (Tone Harmonic
Compressor), a two channel hybrid compressor that
employs eight valves and four discrete amplifiers
to achieve a unique level of control over dynamic
range, harmonic distortion content and tonal
balance. After the transformer coupled input, audio
is split into two separate parallel processing paths;
the first with a pair of EF183 valves operating in
a push-pull configuration, the second split from
a separate winding of the input transformer
and is intended to be blended together with the
compressed output.

Alcons has
released the
BC332, a selfcontained,highoutput
cardioid
subwoofer
system for both
permanent
and portable
ground-stacked
applications. The BC332 is designed to offer a
directivity controlled, high output, tight and
accurate sub-bass response, for low-frequency
extension of any Alcons pro-ribbon system.
By means of a front and rear located woofer
configuration, in combination with dedicated
processing, the BC332 enables selectable cardioid
low-frequency pattern control and rear rejection (up
to 18dB), without the need for additional cabinets.

Universal Shadow and Precision
Universal Audio has released new UAD software
v6.3.2, bringing the Shadow Hills Mastering
Compressor Plug-In and Precision K-Stereo
Ambience Recovery Plug-In to the UAD Powered
Plug-Ins platform and Apollo Audio Interface. The
Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor Plug-In is a
true-to-life emulation of Shadow Hills’ hallmark
Mastering Compressor, featuring a world-class
signal path that controls music dynamics in
two stages - first with an optical section, then
with a discrete (VCA) section. Both sections can
be bypassed, providing a variety of compression
sounds.
The Precision K-Stereo Ambience Recovery
Plug-In was created by Universal Audio in
collaboration with mastering engineer Bob Katz.
It extracts ambient cues from source recordings,

Behringer Gets Busy
Behringer has announced the availability of
several new products. The new XENYX Q
Series USB mixers come in configurations
ranging from five to 24 inputs, and feature
Behringer’s XENYX microphone pre-amp. Sound
shaping for any input signal is provided by ‘British’
EQs, while select models feature switchable
phantom power plus dedicated wireless-ready
integration for Behringer’s upcoming ULM
Series digital wireless microphones. Other

The company
is also now
shipping its
Eurolive B115D
and B115MP3
active twoway
loudspeakers. The new systems feature an
integrated dual-channel mixer with two-band
EQ, built-in sound processor and 1000 Watts
of Class-D bi-amplification. They have an enclosure design that allows them to be polemounted,
stacked, or placed horizontally for floor monitor wedge applications. A dedicated
USB-style 3.0 input provides integration with Behringer’s upcoming Ultralink Series
wireless microphones. Both speakers have custom-engineered 15-inch long-excursion LF
drivers and a 1.35-inch aluminium diaphragm compression driver. The B115MP3 has a fully
addressable embedded MP3 player.
Finally, now available for download is the Eurocom AX Series Amplifier Control
Software. AX Remote Connect V1.1 allows integrators to set up, control and monitor all
Eurocom AX Series DSP models with a local PC, via the front panel USB connector or
remotely over a network via the rear panel Ethernet port. A front panel LCD display also
allows set up and adjustments directly at the amplifier, without the need for a PC. AX
Remote Connect V1.1 also allows full access to the AX Series onboard test section, which
includes pink noise, white noise and a fixed/sweeping sine wave generator.

Aphex 500 Modules
Aphex debuted its new 500 Series modules at AES.
The J PRE 500 mic pre is inspired by the Aphex 1788A
preamp, with Aphex mic limiter technology. The EQF
500 reissue is a modern take on the Aphex EQF-2
500 three-band equaliser, with a Jensen output
transformer and 25Hz to 20kHz operation. The DUAL
RPA 500 mic pre is a two-channel solid state/tube
hybrid preamp, and also has mic limiter technology.
The A PRE 500 mic pre is inspired by the Aphex
188 eight-channel preamp, both using a custom
designed Aphex input transformer. The COMP 500
module is an optical compressor, featuring an
electronically balanced input and an optocoupler.

On The Slate
Slate Pro Audio introduced the Raven MTX
Multitouch Production Console at AES. The Raven
MTX is touch screen display featuring the Raven
Mixer, a powerful multitouch mixer that can control
all major DAWs, with a flexible, user-customisable
toolbar. The Raven also incorporates a full-featured
analogue monitoring section with multiple speaker
outs and input sources, smart phone connectivity,
USB, and multiple headphone send and cue options.
The Raven touch display uses new touchscreen
technology, and has a custom made Nano Glide
surface, making the surface slick and smooth. The
46-inch screen makes it easy to tweak DAW controls.
Slate says that the Raven was built to ‘modernise the
idea of the classic recording console.’

Nagra LINO and PICO
Audio Technology Switzerland introduced two new
Nagra hand-held digital audio recorders at AES.
The Nagra LINO records to a removable SD memory
card in the same way as the Nagra SD. It will record
in linear PCM (up to
96 kHz) and MP3 in
both 16 and 24 word
lengths. The LINO has
the same physical
size and shape as
the Nagra SD, but
uses a pair of built-in
capsules. It also uses
the same software
structure for all the
internal settings
as the SD. It offers
high quality preamplifiers,
stereo and
mono recording, VOR operation and long running
time. The Nagra PICO is even smaller, and fits in
the palm of the hand. It records both PSM linear
and MP3 formats to an internal 4GB flash memory.
