Presentations
The University of Oklahoma (O.U.) and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Shin-Che Huang and Ray Robertson gave seminars to O.U. and ODOT on the FHWA research
being conducted at WRI. These were on April 9 (O.U.) and April 10 (ODOT), 2008. Shin-Che
and Ray were also asked to critique several ongoing and planned O.U. pavement performance
research projects. ODOT requested information on the toluene-ethanol asphalt extraction
method developed during SHRP and on the Modified German Rolling Flask aging method
developed by WRI and AAT. This information was sent to ODOT upon return to WRI.
Conferences and Meetings Attended
The Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists Annual Meeting, Philadelphia, April 27-30,
2008. Shin-Che Huang attended the meeting.
Training
Rheobit formal course in rheology. During the week of June 2-6, 2008, WRI employed Drs.
David Anderson and Geoff Rowe to teach the Rheobit rheology course at WRI. This was open
to all WRI Transportation Technology people and a few spaces were made available (at
appropriate share of cost) to outsiders from state DOTs.
Newsletter
Volume 3, Number 1 of the Transportation Technology e-Transfer newsletter was released in
April 2008. The next Transportation Technology e-Transfer newsletter (Vol. 3, No. 2) is
planned for August 2008. It will cover the 2008 Petersen Conference and Pavement
Performance Prediction Symposium (July 14-18, 2008), WRI’s 25 Year history, and continue to
cover WRI’s work on the MEPDG.
