information in organizations including knowledge management and competitive intelligence.
Conducting research on how diverse populations identify, access, and evaluate crisis and
health information using information communication technologies and social media tools.
Assistant Professor, School of Library & Information Science, Louisiana State University;
August 2003 to August 2007. Responsible for courses in the areas of organization of
information, evaluation of information systems, knowledge management, and special
libraries. Recipient of 2006 Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) national
leadership grant to study information services provided in times of crisis.
Interim Director of Student Services, College of Information Studies, University of Maryland;
December 2002 to June 2003. Responsible for day-to-day operations of Student Services
Office including recruitment efforts, development of material for prospective and current
students, orientation, advising and registration activities, and initiatives to streamline office
procedures. Explored potential markets and developed business plans for undergraduate
degree and distance learning initiatives in response to priorities set by the Provost.

Director of Administrative Operations, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; 1987 to 1989.
Responsible for non-musical administration including human resources, professional
development, computer operations, ticket services, and procurement; monitored endowment
investment activities; liaison for insurance and legal services; managed for-profit subsidiary.
Organizational Development Consultant, self-employed; 1985 to 1987. Developed business
plans, public relations, and marketing strategies for nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
Evaluated organizational structures and designed policies and procedures to support
organizational goals. Analyzed management information systems to determine user needs as
well as the most effective methods and formats for training and documentation.
Project Director, Kinton Incorporated: Alexandria, Virginia; 1977 to 1983. Responsible for
project administration and financial activities in 100-person consulting firm. Wrote and
negotiated successful proposals for multi-year and contracts with government and private
industry clients in the areas of organizational training and development, information needs
assessment, and computer-aided instruction. Designed and directed more than twenty-five
projects in a wide range of military, government, and industrial settings to improve the
effectiveness of communicating information in complex environments.
