SATB a cappella<br />

encounters is a cycle of three compositions for mixed<br />

voices. These sound collages describe three fundamental<br />

forms of human communication. Taking sound<br />

centred on “e” as its starting point, the work uses the<br />

means of sound and scene to portray communicative<br />

situations. The graphic notation of this contemporary<br />

<strong>choral</strong> composition leaves a great deal of freedom for<br />

improvi-sation and creative interpretation: singing,<br />

speaking, movement and acting.<br />

Following in its extensive structure in the tradition of<br />

the great settings of the Mass, the Missa for Mixed Choir<br />

by Franz M. Herzog is marked by its outstandingly<br />

vivid <strong>music</strong>al language. All sections of the Mass can<br />

also be performed independently of one another.<br />

Like Kyrie and Gloria, the Credo is characterised by<br />

several independent sections which form a unifi ed<br />

whole, pedals, powerful melodies and expressive<br />
