form this question in a moving melodic phrase before
the other voices join in. Wistful looks back to the past
are suffused with present doubts, until fi nally hope for
a positive future prevails. The dense tonality of the

She Walks in Beauty, Lord Byron’s romantic love
poem written in 1815, in an original and impressive
musical interpretation by Andrea Figallo, the bass
singer of the well-known vocal group The Flying
Pickets! Starting from an expressive, archaic sounding
bass phrase, the work develops into a musical experience
of great stylistic, harmonic and tonal diversity. Figallo
skilfully combines popular and jazz elements with the
language of classical Romantic music and with new
sounds to produce a homo-geneous and powerfully
expressive choral composition.
