Homogeniser application laboratory
The homogeniser application laboratory is an integrated part of the Innovation Centre in Silkeborg and offers proof-of-concept ho-
mogenising tests and analyses.
Homogenisation is an important part of liquid processing in the dairy, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and health care
industries. Consistent particle size distribution and viscosity are essential quality factors affecting the stability, mouth feel, perception of
flavour and many other product properties.
A brand new particle sizing instrument based on laser diffraction (a Malvern 3000 with MIE theory) is installed in the new laboratory for
excellent performance of all future particle size distribution analyses of homogenised test samples
Serving our customers
The laboratory is ready to serve our customers with homogenising tests and analy-
ses to help them troubleshoot homogenising problems, optimise existing products
and develop new ones.
Finding the right homogeniser
“By conducting a small-scale test in the laboratory, we can quickly determine
whether homogenisation is the best option” says Elsebeth Vang Hansen. “Already
at this stage we can document the benefits of using a particular homogenisation
process for the particular customer application”.
Further tests and analyses lead to conclusions about optimum pressures, the best
type of homogenising valve, the best homogenising temperature, premix proper-
ties etc., enabling the laboratory to recommend the most optimum homogeniser
solution for maximising the homogenising efficiency and quality of the customers
product.
The next step
Customers can choose to move forward with pilot scale trials at the pilot plan
facilities at the Innovation Centre where more extensive testing including all pro-
cessing steps results in a fully valid production-scale process.
World-class expertise
The SPX FT homogeniser application laboratory is staffed by experienced experts
with broad knowledge across a vast range of applications and expertise in test
design, test procedures and advanced analyses.
Non-disclosure agreements can be the customer’s assurance of complete confi-
dentiality.
