Acknowledgements National Scale up Plan for Programmatic Management of DR TB 2011 - 2012 The National PMDT Scale-up Plan (2011 – 2012) has been prepared by Central TB Division, Directorate General of Health Services for monitoring the progress made by every state towards the rolling out and phased expansion of PMDT services towards achieving universal access to quality diagnosis and treatment of MDR TB. The plan has been developed under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Kumar, DDG (TB), CTD, by a team comprising of Dr. K Sachdeva (Addl DDG TB, CTD); Dr P Saxena (CMO, CTD); Dr. Puneet Dewan (MO TB, WHO SEARO); Dr Ranjani Ramachandran (Lab Focal Point, WHO SEARO); Dr. Kiran Rade (RNTCP Consultant – Epidemiology, CTD and Dr. Malik Parmar (RNTCP Consultant – Drug Resistant TB, CTD). We cherish the contribution of the teams from all 35 states comprising of State TB Officers, Director of STDCs, IRL Microbiologists, Chairperson of various ‘DOTS Plus Sites’, and the many WHO-RNTCP Medical Consultants who meticulously developed or revised their respective state PMDT scale up plan and submitted it to the CTD. The state plans aligned with the available national and local resources were consolidated to evolve this national plan. The valuable inputs provided by Dr P Kumar, Director - NTI, Bangalore and Dr D Behera, Director – LRS Institute, New Delhi during the series of state level planning meetings are acknowledged. We also recognize the technical inputs provide by the team of Strategic Alliance Management Services for Drug stock management analysis and forecasting the available drug envelop for each state up to 2012. Contributions by the representatives of FIND India towards aligning the laboratory capacity scale up with the plan of each state are also appreciated. Funding for the technical assistance provided is largely from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), UK Department for International Development (DFID). Additional resources for accelerating the MDR TB response in India have been provided by UNITAID under the EXPAND-TB project and also from USAID. Lastly, we are thankful to Clinton Health Access Initiatives for conducting an external pinch-point analysis of the countries scale-up plan for diagnosis and management of MDR TB and sharing recommendations to combat potential gaps identified in the plan.
