Surgical contact lenses are available with a handle (A) or for support with the finger (B) or forceps (D). As on alternate, the onterior chamber ma/ be emptied of aqueous and refilled by air. This will so alter the optics as to make the angle gonioscopicolly visible but without the magnification provided by the contact lenses. It can be done as a separate maneuver or with a special goniotomy knife which is made on the end of a fine needle (C). This same instrument is then used throughout the operation.
