Peace Table
Right after the Human Rights Award Ceremony,
all citizens of Nuremberg from all kinds of
backgrounds were invited to take a seat at a single
long table to talk and eat together. They were able
to speak with members of the Jury or former prize
winners and to express their solidarity with Abdolfattah
Soltani and his work.
Walking down the “Way of Human Rights”, still
under the spell of the award ceremony, we felt very
much honoured to be able to sit down at the Peace
Table with them. It was an incredible feeling to see
so many citizens of Nuremberg sitting next to each
other – parents and children, couples and individuals,
associations and sports clubs, companies and
groups of migrants – they all had come to celebrate
together, to give a clear signal of peace and tolerance.
We bought lunch at the various stalls alongside the
table, sat down with all the other people and talked
about the very impressive and touching ceremony
which we had just witnessed while drummer groups
and other artists were performing all around us.
And we applauded the award winner‘s wife, Masoumeh
Dehgan, who joined the Peace Table on behalf
of her husband. We wanted to pay our respect to
both of them and share their hope for democracy
in Iran.
For all FACE members, this multicultural event was
a wonderful and unforgettable experience as they
could feel a spirit of unity and tolerance across the
streets of Nuremberg.
