14 Workshops In preparation for the meeting, the ten delegations chose an article of the Declaration of Human Rights and worked on it in their home countries. In Nuremberg, the participants then applied their knowledge and gained more insight in their respective workshops. Yes to respect - no to racism Street Theatre When the participants of the workshop “Street theatre“ met for the first time they were just a group of very different people with different interests and nationalities. Some of them have already acted in their schools‘ drama groups for several years but of course there were also others among them for whom it was the first time to slip into another role. If you believe that it is impossible to create a feeling of togetherness among the young students from the most different backgrounds and to make them write a script for a street theatre performance is an impossible task to accomplish within three days, Bettina Weber, the workshop leader proves you wrong. The young actors quickly got involved into their work: Pronouncing sententences and walking in different ways, being a statue or just clapping their hands in different directions warmed them up to their job. They also talked about what racism and respect means to them in their daily lives and in general. In this multicultural group, language was never a problem. If actors had difficulties expressing what they meant in English, they just used their mother tongue. The results of ten hours of hard work was a brilliant and very moving performance, which took place in different locations of the Nuremberg pedestrian zone and the market square. Participants of the FACE meeting, tourists and local people alike watched the three completely different scenes with a profound sense of awe. They were captured and fascinated by the group‘s interpretation of immigration in Europe, of racism and respect and of the deportation of the Jewish community. And what about the actors themselves? Every participant in the workshop agrees that Bettina Weber did a great job and that the time they spent together will stay in their memories for the rest of their lives. Anne Schreiber
