This year’s CityFest will
once again feature its popular
KidsFest section, which is
an area devoted exclusively
to the kids in the family.
Sponsored by Vic Smith
CPA, P.C., the KidsFest area
gives children a full day of
fun and play at the most
attractive price imaginable:
free.
“We’re having 15 inflatables
for the kids. We’re having
all the same great activities
that the kids love," said
Emily Sykes, vice president
of the Alabaster Arts
Council. “And best of all, it’s
free.”
According to the CityFest
website (www.alabastercityfest.com),
this year’s
KidsFest will feature plenty

of great inflatables, plus arts
and crafts, a drum circle,
live music, and a healthy
snack food demonstration
sponsored by Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of
Alabama. This year will
also include some great
face-painting for the kids.
“We’re having some
local art teachers that are
going to come in and do
face-painting for us,” said
Sykes. “We’re happy to
have them.”
Lowe’s will also be on
hand again this year with
its popular “Kids Build It”
workshop, which allows
kids to build a variety of
fun projects under the
supervision of adults. The
workshop is appropriate for
kids ages 4 to 12 and is a
popular station for kids to
visit with their parents.
“They provide activities
for the kids to do which is
great. All the kids seem to
love it,” said Sykes.
The Amazing Flyin’ K9s
will be performing two
shows during the day, one
at 10:30 a.m. and one at 1:30
p.m. Kids will love seeing
the high-flying dogs perform
a variety of great
tricks.
Jim Aycock will be on the
KidsFest stage performing
his fun brand of children’s
music. He’s scheduled to
perform on the hour,
between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Pony rides should be available
again this year as well,
at a small fee.
In past years, KidsFest
has been a big success with
the children, and this year
should be no exception.
“We’re expecting it to be
as big or bigger this year,”
Sykes said.

CityFest is scheduled for
Saturday, June 2. KidsFest is
open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
