for Healthcare Informatics, coauthored
with Susan Houston, was
published in 2007.

Jim has been a member of
ANIA and CARING since the mid
1990’s. He was a frequent
presenter at the ANIA annual
spring conferences. In 2005, Jim
joined the ANIA Board of
Directors as the treasurer. In 2007
he successfully ran for the office
president-elect, as a three year term
(including President and Past
President). As a result of the
merger with CARING, Jim’s board
role is Education Co-Chair. This
year he is the Chair Person for the
planning committee for the 2010
ANIA-CARING Annual
Conference.
Jim currently works for
Dearborn Advisers as a Delivery
Service Executive. Previously, he
was a Senior Manager with two of
the large health care consulting
firms. Jim’s clinical background is
in adult critical care, emergency
department, and informatics. He
has an MBA and BSN from San
Francisco State University and is
board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Nursing
Informatics. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Curtis Dikes, RN, MSN, ACNP-BC, CLNC, NEA-BC, is National Director
Clinical Informatics Technology Integration at Kaiser Permanente, interacting
with business and clinician partners to identify and deploy clinical care
technologies that foster clinician efficiency, promote quality of care and patient
safety, and otherwise support clinical improvement goals. He is an innovator in
technology design and integration engendering optimal healthcare design and
delivery, using his background as a clinician and operations leader with expertise
in nursing informatics, advanced practice nursing and biomedical ethics. Curtis is
an active member of advisory boards, including the American Hospital
Association (AHA) Solutions, Inc., Cisco Systems, Inc., and Vocera, Inc. Curtis
sits on the Board of Directors including steering committee member of the
Alliance for Nursing Informatics (ANI), as well as a designated mentor for the
inaugural ANI Emerging Leaders Program. He is an active member in the HIMSS
and American College of Clinical Engineering (ACCE) communities. Prior to the
merging of ANIA & CARING, Curtis was a board member, including Past-
President, of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).

Vicki Vallejos, RN-BC, BSN

Vicki has over 30 years nursing experience in the roles of bedside nursing, unit
manager and house supervisor in various areas including oncology, critical care
and home health. While in home health, Vicki was thrown into the world of
informatics when she assumed responsibility for the medical records and quality
assurance departments as these areas went from manual to electronic systems,
Vicki has been in her current role at a local acute care facility as Clinical
Informatics Manager since 1997 and has been clinical lead in 3 departmental
system design and implementations as well as 2 organizational HIS design and
implementations, including one in home health. Currently Vickie is the Clinical
Project Manager for the installation and implementation of a new HIS system
which will include CPOE, EMR, and clinical analytics. She and her team of 6
nurses and 3 analyst work closely with all clinical users within the organization to
for workflow redesign, system design and configuration, clinical testing and
training, and mobile device selection
Vicki joined ANIA in 2003 and CARING in 2005. She was elected to the ANIA
board of directors in 2007, and as served as the Education Chair, and involved the
planning and production of the ANIA-CARING Conferences in 2008 and 2009.
She continues on the ANIA-CARING Board of Directors as Regional Director for
Region I.
