Pioneer Electronics Committed to Enhancing Customer
Satisfaction, Developing Advanced Technologies and
Forging Strategic Alliances
Pioneer Corp. is a world leader in consumer
electronic products, dating back
to 1938 when Nozomu Matsumoto
originally established “Fukuin Denki”
to repair radios and manufacture speakers
in Tokyo. Pioneer became the first
to develop and market a stereo system
that separated a pair of speakers from the
amplifier and turntable console, setting
the standard for how stereos and speakers
are currently made.
Today, Pioneer is recognized for its
leadership in the development of critical
innovations, including a number of
car electronics industry firsts, such as
the SUPERTUNER® (1976), Compact
Disc player for the automobile (1984),
first satellite global positioning system
(GPS) for automotive use (1990), the
detachable face security system (1990),
50-disc CD changer for the car (1997),
the single-color Organic Electro Luminescence
(OEL) display technology
(1998), six-disc DVD changer (2000),
XM Satellite Radio Tuner (2001), all-
in-one navigation/audio/video/vehicle
dynamic performance system (2004),
route guidance navigation system with
detailed traffic information (2005), Pandora
Internet radio compatible head unit
(2010), AppRadio (2011) and AppRadio
2 (2012). The company’s expansive
manufacturing capabilities and strength
in developing and integrating technology
platforms have contributed to Pioneer’s
prominence in the car, home and
industrial electronics markets.
In addition to leading-edge car and
home audio/video products, Pioneer
has also distinguished itself as a leader in
the convergence of entertainment and
information. Over the years, Pioneer has
invested in core technologies for automotive
and home multimedia, creating
products for new markets, including
smartphone-connected in-dash products,
3D-compatible streaming Blu-ray Disc
players and professional DJ equipment.
Pioneer’s AppRadio was a breakthrough
for the automotive electron-
ics space, the first in-vehicle product
designed to utilize the smartphone’s processing
power, storage capacity, network
connectivity and apps as the primary
source for its information and entertainment
capabilities. This unique technology
allows users to safely and intuitively
control their smartphones through
an in-dash touchscreen and provides
access to a growing library of automotive-centric
apps, such as turn-by-turn
navigation, driving aids, traffic information
and entertainment. The new technology
is already changing the industry,
making it now possible for consumers
to quickly and
instantly update
the AppRadio unit
via smartphone
apps and firmware
updates, adding new
features and compatibility
for new
smartphones and
operating systems.
Cobra’s New Vedetta SLR 650G: Ergonomic
New Form Factor Meets Superb Performance
Cobra Electronics recently announced its new Cobra Vedetta SLR 650G radar detector, which represents
a fairly radical new approach to form factor, ergonomics and performance in a space that doesn’t traditionally
experience much change year-over-year. The new unit delivers a 30% increase in performance over
Cobra’s previous flagship model, giving it superior range and, therefore, maximum warning time to react to
potential threats. Mounting radar/laser detectors on the center of the windshield has historically been critical
for performance but is not ideal for driver visibility as well as unit concealment. The SLR 650G solves this
problem, thanks to a 2.4-in. TFT color LCD display on a multi-axis hinge and a ball-socket suction cup
mounting bracket, which allows almost unlimited flexibility to mount the detector virtually anywhere on
the car’s windshield or dash. The display can be rotated 270 degrees vertically and 60 degrees horizontally.
The Cobra Vedetta SLR 650G also offers an integrated GPS receiver and free, lifetime access to its AURA
database of speed/red-light cameras and known speed-trap locations.
Pioneer BOOTH #11761
The AppRadio concept and feature
is quickly being integrated into other
products, including audio/video receivers
and navigation systems through a feature
called AppRadio mode adding AppRadio
functionality to Pioneer’s popular in-dash
A/V and navigation models.
These technologies not only enrich
Pioneer’s opportunities in these growing
fields, but also support the company’s
standing in its traditional markets.
Pioneer is committed to continually
enhancing customer satisfaction, developing
advanced technologies and forging
strategic alliances.
Key features include:
