<strong>School</strong> <strong>High</strong>lights<br />
Drama<br />
Thespian Accolades<br />
Artistic Director Vincent Castellano directed two<br />
productions last year – Damn Yankees in the fall and<br />
Jekyll and Hyde The Musical in the spring. The spring<br />
musical was entered into the Cappies (Critics and<br />
Awards Program) competition where <strong>Pope</strong> received<br />
Cappies nominations in four categories.<br />
Our nominees were Giuseppe Barioli as Male<br />
Vocalist; Kristen McClave as Female Vocalist; Celine<br />
Boccia and Samantha Gentile for Props and Effects;<br />
and “The Confrontation” performed by Giuseppe<br />
Barioli as Best Song.<br />
Additionally, Stephanie LoVerde (Lynn University)<br />
and Hogan Seidel (Emerson College) received the<br />
Commendee Award for Outstanding Achievement in<br />
<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Theater, while Stephanie Suau was<br />
similarly recognized for her contributions as a lead<br />
critic for the Cappies.<br />
In thespian competitions, Nick Rapuano won the<br />
Critic’s Choice award at District for his performance<br />
of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”. At the same<br />
competition, Superior ratings were earned by Alana<br />
Miller and Nicolas Aquino for their solo musicals;<br />
Rebecca Tiufekchiev (University of Florida) and<br />
Cassandra Aguililla for their monologues; and,<br />
Jessica Aquino (Nova Southeastern University) and<br />
Nicolas Aquino for a duet musical. <strong>Pope</strong> students<br />
also captured 15 Excellent ratings at District.<br />

Later in the year, our students performed well at the<br />
State Thespian competition in Tampa. Alana Miller<br />
earned a Superior rating for her solo musical. Straight<br />
Excellence ratings went to Cassandra Aguililla,<br />
Jessica Aquino, Nicolas Aquino and Nick Rapuano.<br />
Rebecca Tiufekchiev came away with an Excellent<br />
rating.<br />
