Conclusion
In completing my first full 2 months as the CEO of TFA I have great faith in the sport and the direction we are
heading. As stated in the report of 2006/07 the issues of the past will continue to be evident, however we have
made inroads into the changes required.
With a unified approach to the delivery of Touch Football the Staff and Board of Management of TFA are
determined to deliver results of which we can all be proud. The Management and Board of TFA are supremely
confident that the future is bright for our sport. We have achieved great things in recent times and we continue to
encourage the gains being made in all localities.
Personally, I would like to thank the Board of Management (Peter Rooney, Bill Ker, Brian Rooney, Michael Rush,
Bruce Ainslie, Paul Eggers and Mathew Gilbertson) for their support over the last year.
Of particular note, the support and leadership offered by Peter Rooney must be mentioned. It is also fitting to
mention Paul Eggers, as Chair of the Finance Sub Committee, who was a valuable member of the Board as it
negotiated the previous concerns.
The issues faced throughout the previous year were not easy for anyone to face, however the Board remained
focused on assisting the organisation to rectify them. In doing so the Board was faced with critical decisions,
constant scrutiny, at times criticism and a mounting workload. At all times the Board were available for counsel
and were supportive and confident of our path.
It is this type of dedication and commitment that has enabled our sport to thrive for more than 30 years.
TFA has continued to enjoy the dedicated support of our Technical Directors (Cathy Gray, Lou Tompkins, Dennis
Coffey). It is acknowledged that over the period TFA has had to reassess all areas of the sport. In difficult times
the support of the technical disciplines has been outstanding. With a new direction and previous financial issues
the Panels, through the relevant Director, have understood the issues faced by the administration.
They have been supported by various panels and/or committed members of the community, including both Ian
Stanley and Peter McNeven who are to be thanked for their assistance in preparing our National Youth Squads. I
thank all volunteers for their ongoing commitment to promoting the game and supporting the outcomes we all
aspire to achieve. This includes the fine work being done by all of our appointed National Coaches: Tony Trad,
Kerry Norman, Bernie Morrison, Michael Lovett, Dean Russell, Karley Banks, Kathy O’Brien, Peter Bell & Michael
McDonald.
