The Friends of the Zoo’s trademark events again delighted tens of thousands of visitors this
year while raising funds for the Zoo Century renovation plans.
Green & Gold Training Camp 2009
The Henry Vilas Zoo was fortunate enough to
have Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation
present Green and Gold Training Camp on zoo
grounds for the 3rd year in a row. On Saturday,
July 18, 2009 Green Bay’s Donald Driver and
Edgar Bennett led a mini-training camp for kids
ages 5-12. Each participant jumped, jacked
and ran with the pros, and 10 lucky kids won a
regulation football personally autographed by

The Zoo Run Run
The 4th Annual Zoo Run Run was another
successful event! Event participation increased
by 50% and over 1,350 participants joined us
for the 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run benefiting
the Zoo. Town Bank enjoyed sponsoring the

similarly successful Roo Run Run with nearly
300 little ones who ran, hopped and skipped to
the finish line here in the Zoo.
Halloween at the Zoo
Associated Bank presented Halloween at
the Zoo for the third consecutive year on
a beautiful sunny fall day. They took great
pleasure in seeing nearly 13,000 princesses,
superheroes, kid-wizards, and other costumed
guests come out to enjoy the festivities… that’s
2,000 more than the previous year! As they
tricked and treated, kids were surrounded by
animal encounters, keeper talks, and festive
decorations. There were 14 Treat Stops along
the route, live music, bounce castles, and FREE
carousel rides all day!
