LAURA M. S. BEREND completed her<br />
two-year term as president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong><br />
Psych-Law Society in December 2005. She<br />
coordinated and co-moderated “Investigate<br />
Your Case: CSI for Lawyers” presented<br />
on January 28, 2006, to approximately 200<br />
attendees at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for<br />
Peace & Justice. This was one <strong>of</strong> a series<br />
<strong>of</strong> annual or semiannual<br />
seminars<br />
funded since 1991<br />

LAURA M. S. BEREND<br />
ROY L. BROOKS completed the third<br />
edition <strong>of</strong> his casebook, Civil Rights<br />
Litigation: Cases and Perspectives (Carolina<br />
Academic Press). The paperback edition<br />
<strong>of</strong> his monograph, Atonement and Forgiveness<br />
(<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> California Press), was released<br />
last winter. His book, Structures <strong>of</strong><br />
Judicial Decision Making from Legal Formalism<br />
to Critical Theory (Carolina Academic<br />
Press, 2002), gained attention during last<br />
fall’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings<br />
<strong>of</strong> John Roberts. Brooks presented<br />
an academic paper at Yale Law School<br />
in the Levinson Auditorium and gave a<br />
campus-wide speech at Brown <strong>University</strong>.<br />
He has appeared in debates at the<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Kentucky and the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> Houston, as well as on a panel<br />
discussing the issue <strong>of</strong> reparations sponsored<br />
by the New York Historical<br />
Society. Brooks has also given interviews<br />
on radio, appeared at book signings in<br />
<strong>San</strong> Francisco and New York City and<br />
was seen on C-SPAN. Locally, Brooks<br />
gave a speech at the Martin Luther King<br />
Library and participated in a panel discussion<br />
at Thomas Jefferson Law School.
