The Red Mass, a mass traditionally celebrated<br />

The National Conference on Homeless Courts,<br />
“Taking the Court to the Streets,” a conference<br />
in which participants learned about<br />
the history <strong>of</strong> the homeless court, their<br />
potential roles in operating a program,<br />
the process <strong>of</strong> creating a homeless court<br />
and the benefits <strong>of</strong> the program for communities<br />
as well as their homeless residents,<br />

California State Supreme Court Special<br />
Session, held in the Kroc Institute for<br />
Peace & Justice in conjunction with<br />
School <strong>of</strong> Law’s 50th Anniversary celebration.<br />
The justices, over two days,<br />
heard cases ranging from criminal cases<br />
involving the death penalty to civil cases<br />
involving anti-SLAPP statutes and administrative<br />
remedies involving “whistleblower”<br />
claims. The event, which turned<br />
out to be one the largest collaborative<br />
public education events in the state<br />
court’s history, was sponsored by the<br />
USD School <strong>of</strong> Law, December 2004.<br />
