n Advancement <strong>of</strong>ficers from schools<br />
throughout <strong>the</strong> <strong>Midwest</strong> District met<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Provincial Office, Burr Ridge,<br />
IL on November 4, 2009 to share<br />
information and “Best Practices” so<br />
that all could learn from one ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
Participants from twelve schools<br />
discussed <strong>the</strong>ir experiences with<br />
Annual Giving, Capital Campaigns,<br />
and Planned Giving. Plans are in <strong>the</strong><br />
works to make this an annual event.<br />

n On November 6, 2009 <strong>the</strong> <strong>Christian</strong><br />
<strong>Bro<strong>the</strong>rs</strong> Benefit Raffle was held at <strong>the</strong><br />
Provincial Office with Bro<strong>the</strong>r Thomas<br />
Dominic Vance coordinating <strong>the</strong> event.<br />
This raffle has been held annually since<br />
1995 when <strong>the</strong> <strong>Midwest</strong> District came<br />
into existence. This year a gross total<br />
<strong>of</strong> over $400,000 was raised to support<br />
participating ministries. Sixteen winners<br />
were awarded a total <strong>of</strong> $19,250. The<br />
winners and <strong>the</strong>ir prizes include <strong>the</strong><br />
following: $5,000 - Cathy Marchetti<br />
(Plainfield, IL) and Sharon O’Brien<br />
(Hayward, WI); $2,500 - Thomas Kren<br />
(Downers Grove, IL); $1,000 - Elizabeth<br />
Buckley (Mundelein, IL), Ashly Koenig<br />
(Plainfield, IL) and Bob Caesar (New<br />

Glen, IL), Stephen Iandolo (Orlando, FL),<br />
Erin Mink Garvey (Chicago, IL), Zlata Dugandzic (Westchester, IL) and Tom Kersten (Long Grove,<br />
IL); $250 - David Karson (Chicago, IL), Sean Haley (Chicago, IL), Sunshine Monk, (Sykesville,<br />
MD), Kathryn Aschenbrenner, (Saint Louis, MO) and Benjamin Diaz (Chicago, IL). Of <strong>the</strong><br />
Lasallian ministries where winning tickets were sold, Lewis University headed <strong>the</strong> list with four,<br />
followed by St. Joseph H.S. with three and David Darst Center with two. The ministries that<br />
sold one winning ticket each were De La Salle Blackfeet School, St. Patrick H.S., San Miguel<br />
Chicago, La Salle Manor, <strong>Midwest</strong> District Office, La Salle Institute Retreat Center and De La Salle<br />
Institute. Thanks to all who sold tickets and congratulations to all <strong>the</strong> winners!<br />
