Puerto Vallarta rated #1 among
Best Beaches for Retirement
In an article published by U.S.
News on March 7, 2011, entitled
“The World’s Best Beaches for
Retirement”, Kathleen Peddicord
wrote:
“Your retirement years could
include the sound of the sea lapping
gently against the shore from your
bedroom window and a view of the
Pacific from your balcony. Constant
sunshine and long walks along the
sand whenever the inclination strikes
you could even be an affordable
retirement option if you pick the
right place. Here are the world’s best
beaches for retirement.
1. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Puerto Vallarta is the place to go
to enjoy a world-class Pacific coast
lifestyle. This isn’t developing-world
living. This stretch of Mexico’s
Pacific coastline has been developed
to a high level. Life here can be
not only comfortable, but even
luxurious. In Puerto Vallarta, you
have the opportunity to enjoy an
international-standard lifestyle
including things like golf courses,
marinas, restaurants, and shopping,
in a region with beautiful beaches and
ocean views. This is a place to come
to enjoy a seaside lifestyle similar to
that of southern California.”
The other four top resorts were in:
2. Panama, 3. Belize, 4. Uruguay, 5.
Democrats Abroad in Mexico
Dee Dee Camhi with Vice-Chair Barry
Devine from San Miguel de Allende
It’s a fine time to be a Democrat
in the US and an even better time
to be one of thousands of US
Democrats Abroad. That was
the positive tone set at this year’s
annual meeting of the Mexico
chapter of Democrats Abroad.
It was the first time the annual
meeting of activist expats was
held in Puerto Vallarta.
Dee Dee (Roberta) Camhi, the
group’s new national President-
Elect and PV resident, said
“We’re going to stay focused on
what’s working for the Democrats
and for those with progressive
values. The world and the US
are at a tipping point in history
where we can make a difference
if we stand up for what we believe
in and take to the streets a little
more – like those in Madison and
those in Cairo.
To symbolize the group’s hope
for the future and commitment
to action, participants passed a
clay pot and collected over 1000
pesos to buy slices of pizza for
the pro-democracy fire fighters,
police officers and teachers in
Madison, Wisconsin. “Ian’s
Pizza on State Street in Madison
has started the “pizza party” and
has received donations from
every state and almost every
country in the world. What
better way to show our support
than to feed the thousands
standing up for their jobs?”
said Jeff Jackson, owner of the
Casa de las Flores guesthouse
where the event was held.
“Anyone in PV can stop by
Casa de las Flores and add to the
contribution pot any time,” coowner
Maurice Monette added.
The members voted in a new
slate of national officers for
Democrats Abroad Mexico,
including PV resident Dee Dee
Camhi. Members reaffirmed
their priority issues for 2011
including:
1. support legislation that
allows Medicare reimbursement
in Mexico.
2. support a respectful
immigration and foreign policy.
3. help expats register to vote.
After the meeting, guests
enjoyed the Cuban and Mexican
modern art of the on-site Galeria
HabanaVallarta gallery at Casa
de las Flores and were treated
to a gourmet Mexican feast
prepared by FoodBySeth.
