When Lynn Gilbert was an adolescent, she had a life-changing opportunity to spend a summer
in Africa after which she received a scholarship to Stanford University in international relations
there she chose nursing as an additional major for bettering child well-being in the world. During
the ensuing six decades she has worked in child health in Africa, South America, and Haiti,
teaching pediatric primary care to nurse practitioner students and providing care to indigent
families in Colorado.
Silver Memorial award and chaired the early childhood section of NAPNAP’s obesity prevention
