Junior Tennis News Way to go, Ryan! Ryan Morton, son of Richard and Mary Morton, was chosen in June by the Lubbock Champs (USTA) Major Zone Tournament as the winning recipient of the John Newcombe’s Tennis Ranch Sportsmanship Scholarship. Ryan attended the one week camp the end of June. While there, Ryan was also awarded a partial scholarship to attend their Top Gun Camp to be held in December. Ryan will be �� a sophomore at Odessa High School this coming school year, and has played varsity tennis for the Odessa High Bronchos since he became a freshman last year. Tip of the Month How to pick a doubles partner 1. Find someone who you can get along with and have some fun. 2. Make sure your partner compliments your game Example: If you’re the type of player that’s a finisher, you want a player that keeps a lot of balls in play. If you keep a lot in play, you want a partner that’s aggressive, and puts the ball away. This is called, Hammer and Wedge Theory. I hope this helps you find a doubles partner!
