the current program is housed in a dilapidated, structurallycompromised<br />

building woefully inadequate for the technical<br />

requirements of this program.<br />

getting this program into a new facility will ensure:<br />

• access to this important career path and trained<br />

workforce.<br />

• Continued operation of whatcom Creek & whatcom Falls<br />

Hatcheries.<br />

• Continuation of the salmon run on whatcom Creek.<br />

• invaluable north Puget sound habitat restoration &<br />

enrichment of our salmon, trout, steelhead, and shellfish<br />

resources.<br />

• enhancement of <strong>Bellingham</strong>’s Maritime Heritage Park<br />

by offering a venue that showcases our valued fisheries,<br />

shellfish, & maritime industries.<br />

BtC is now actively engaged in a campaign to raise the<br />

funds necessary to construct a new building in the Maritime<br />

Heritage Park for the BtC Fisheries and aquaculture sciences<br />

Program.<br />

Join <strong>BTC</strong> in supporting our marine heritage,<br />

and the fisheries and aquatic industries by building the Center<br />

for Fisheries and Aquaculture Sciences…providing career<br />

opportunities, preserving our shellfish and finfish aquaculture<br />

resources, and enhancing our marine environment.<br />

• secured $2 million matching grant from washington state.<br />

• obtained the financial commitment to support this project<br />

from the BtC Board of trustees.<br />

• Received a major gift to name the new building The Perry<br />

Center for Fisheries & Aquaculture Sciences.<br />

• secured the public viewing lobby naming rights from the<br />

Rotary Club of <strong>Bellingham</strong>.<br />

• Raised more than one million dollars from:<br />

County economic Development Fund<br />
