Registration for Short-Term Courses
Fall registration begins the first week in July and Spring
registration begins the first week in December of each year.
Students may register on-line, in person or by mail. Course fees
are due at the time of registration. Therefore, we are sorry that
we are unable to accept your registration by telephone. Please
be sure to mark your calendar for the time and date your class
begins. You are enrolled upon receipt of your class fees. You will
not be notified unless your class is canceled. You are encouraged
to register early, since classes are filled on a first-come, firstserved
basis. Early registration also helps prevent the canceling
of a class due to insufficient enrollment. Most classes require a
minimum of 10 students. You will be notified if the minimum is
not met and the class must be canceled. Conversely, many of
the classes have limited enrollment. Since we do not currently
maintain waiting lists, enroll at your earliest convenience. You
must be 18 years of age or older to register for classes.
Obligation for Payment
Registration constitutes a financial contract between
students and the school. Students are ultimately responsible
for payment of amounts owed to the school, including instances
where anticipated financial aid becomes unavailable. If students
do not make payments of amounts owed to the school when
they become due, the school has the right to cancel students’
registration; to withhold their grades, transcripts, diplomas,
certificates, and to refuse admittance to final exams.
IMPORTANT:
REFUND POLICIES
Refund Policy: Short-Term Courses
If a course is canceled due to insufficient enrollment or
extenuating circumstances, a full refund will be issued. If a
student elects to drop a short-term course (courses not eligible for
financial aid), the student must make a formal request in writing
on the designated form, available at the front office. The student
must make the request to drop a course prior to the beginning
of the second class meeting to obtain a FULL REFUND. After
the second class begins, a REFUND will not be issued. Classes
eligible for financial aid are noted by this symbol“v”.
Refund Policy: Motorcycle Safety Class
The exception to this policy, applies to the Basic Rider
Motorcycle Safety course. Payment in full is required upon
enrollment, $100 of which is non-refundable. A student may
withdraw from this course with a partial ($100) refund until
4:00 p.m. on the Thursday preceding his/her respective class.
Students may not transfer out of the class for which they have
enrolled later than one week before the class begins.

General Information
Refund Policy: Post-Secondary Courses
For post-secondary courses, partial refunds will be granted to
trainees leaving the program with up to 40% of the time remaining
in a semester or payment period. After 60% of a semester or
payment period has elapsed, course fees are non-refundable.
Refunds of more than $100 take four to six weeks to be processed
and mailed.
A minimum one hundred dollar ($100.00) deposit as partial
payment of tuition is required for Career & Technology Center
post-secondary programs. Eighty percent of this deposit is
refundable when a written refund request is made before the
first day of class. No refund of this deposit is made after the first
day of class.
Accident Disclaimer
The Cape Girardeau CTC is not responsible for medical
expenses incurred as a result of an accidental injury that occurs
during participation in a course.
The Career and Technology Center offers financial assistance
and counseling. However, with an increasing number of applicants
and a sometimes lengthy approval process, you are encouraged
to apply early. Financial Aid Assistance is by appointment only.
To set up your appointment, contact (573) 334-0826. Classes
eligible for financial aid are noted by an “v”. Students enrolling
in programs eligible for financial aid (indicated by this symbol
“v”), must provide proof of a high school diploma from a state
or nationally accredited school, or the equivalent (G.E.D.).
Home schooled applicants are asked to provide:
• A plan book, diary, daily log, or other written record indicating
the subjects taught and the activities engaged in with the
student.
• A portfolio containing samples of the student’s academic
work.
• A record of evaluation of the student’s academic progress.
• Other written or credible evidence equivalent to the above.
NOTE: Home schooled applicants are highly encouraged to
complete the GED as a part of the application process due to
the expectations of many employers.
Student Financial Responsibility
Students are ultimately responsible for course tuition fees, and
other course related expenses regardless of any financial aid
that might be available.
The CTC is a
Tobacco Free Campus
Students must leave the campus
to use any tobacco product.
Physical Therapist Assistant
2-year A.A.S Degree
Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) treat patients under
the direction of a Physical Therapist. PTAs use therapeutic
modalities such as exercise, joint and soft tissue mobilization,
endurance training, neuromuscular re-education, and
therapeutic application of heat, cold, ultrasound and electrical
stimulation to assist patients to move and perform functional
activities with the greatest amount of independence possible.
Work as a PTA might also include teaching patients how to use
orthotics, crutches, canes, walkers or other devices to increase
independence. Physical Therapist Assistants are employed by
hospitals, schools, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics,
and home care agencies. Core PTA courses are 12 months,
beginning in the fall semester each year, with classes Monday
through Friday, from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Clinical rotations
include 8-10 hour shifts.
WHY WAS MY SHORT-TERM
CLASS CANCELLED?
Each short-term class (pages 25-39), requires a minimum
enrollment. If this minimum is not met two days before the start
date, the class may be cancelled. Here at the CTC we allow
enrollment for short-term classes up until the start date, but a
decision about a class running has to be made two days before
a class starts. Sometimes classes get cancelled because people
wait until the last minute to register. Please enroll early to help
ensure a class makes. Courses with insufficient enrollment will
be cancelled and registrants will be notified by phone.

Instructor: Beth Bowlin
Studies show that 90% of all back pain resolves itself without
surgical or medical intervention. However, chronic stress and
aches. This class gently releases these muscles using various
props including the Yogawall. Muscles along the spine are also
slowly released in a controlled manner to bring more mobility
and space along the spine. Most of the class is conducted sitting
NEW!
