Banks, currency & credit cards
The currency in Denmark is Danish
Kroner (DKK). Most hotels and shops
accept all major credit cards. Larger
shops do also accept Euro. Automated
cash machines, which you can use with
your credit card, are available all over
the city. Banks are open Monday to
Friday from 10:00 to 16:00, Thursday
to 18:00.
Service charges are always included in
the bill and extra gratuities are not
necessary.
Weather and dress
Denmark has a maritime climate, which
means that the weather is temperate,
no extreme heat or cold. In July the
weather is usually dry and pleasant
with daytime temperatures around
Visiting Copenhagen
Copenhagen is at the cross-roads between
continental Europe and Scandinavia
and the Baltic area. The sea and
waterfront dominates the city that has
kept an old-world charm. The city’s old
streets and architecture blends in with
modern design symbolising its rapid
growth. The modest size of the city is
a great advantage for visitors. The best
sights are within the centre which has a
bustling pedestrian shopping area
called “Strøget”. Most roads have a
bike lane, and compared with other
European cities the traffic is not too
bad. Visitors may enjoy a leisurely stroll
in a relaxed and safe environment – or
a bicycle ride using the ubiquitous “free
of charge” city bikes.
