PAGE 8 CROSSPOINT NEWS CLOTHING CONNECTION by Sue Metz Who doesn't love a new outfit for Easter?!? We were able to provide two young boys with suit jackets including a shirt and a tie to wear to their church on Easter Sunday....they were so excited and happy. They even asked one of the volunteers to show them how to tie a tie! Moments like this make sorting through the piles of clothing so worthwhile. Special Needs: If anyone has any plastic milk crates laying around that they aren't using, we would love to have them for our extra hanger storage. The hangers fit in the crates very nicely. We also need infant and toddler clothing and anything in adult sizes 1X and up. Please keep your donations coming. Remember to take them into the church and not place them in the Community Aid boxes. Items placed in the Community Aid boxes do not go to the Clothing Connection. To volunteer to help sort clothing or host on a Saturday afternoon, please contact Sue Metz at 329-7300 or suziqmetz@yahoo.com The pantry team would like to thank the families and small groups that filled either a dishpan or laundry basket for our pantry friends. Every family visiting the pantry on the Saturday before Easter received one of these special Easter baskets. Many families expressed deep appreciation for these needed items. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Easter Egg Hunt and to those who donated candy, plastic eggs, stickers and sugar cookies! It was a huge success. We had over 200 kids participate and 6,300 eggs! Maddy Shipe (CrossPoint donated 60 blue hymnals to a small church in the Susquehanna Annual Conference, 1 st UMC, Jermyn) We received the hymnals that you had to pass on. We are very thankful as our church is not able to purchase “new” ones. We are enjoying using them the past few weeks. Thanks again! Jermyn UMC Thank you for collecting aluminum beverage can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania. This fundraise started quietly, but has grown through the generosity of many friends beyond what anyone thought possible. We truly appreciated your part in the success of this program and look forward to your working with us in the future, as we strive to support the many families who use the “House that love built”! Thanks for allowing us to spend the night at your facilities. Your kindness was a blessing to us in preparing for our Confirmania Event. DO YOU ENJOY GARDENING? If you can pull weeds or assist in basic plant care such as pruning and thinning we need you. We would appreciate our plants having room to mature and blossom. The collection box is located at the donation center outside Room 209 @ Colonial Park ...Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. ~Matthew 25:40 OPERATION OVERBOARD! 2012 VBS Operation Overboard Vacation Bible School is coming Sunday, July 15 th through Thursday, July 19 th, 6:00-8:30 p.m. @ Colonial Park. Mark your calendars now!!! VBS kids will travel to Aquatic Arts to do great crafts, listen to fabulous in-character bible stories, eat awesome snacks at the Diver’s Diner and participate in fun and exciting games at the High Tide Hangout!
