July 16, 2012: Nathan Van Wilkins opened fire at a bar in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Reports state that he fired through the windows and door of the bar, wounding 17 people.
He was also charged with an unrelated shooting that took place earlier in the evening.
Though he later told police that he hoped that officers would kill him, he surrendered to
police.
