NCCP COACH CERTIFICATION N<br />

The National Coaching Certifi cation Program (NCCP) is a coach<br />

training and certifi cation program <strong>of</strong>f ered in over 66 sports<br />

across Canada. The National Coaching Certifi cation Program<br />

is a collaborative program <strong>of</strong> the government <strong>of</strong> Canada,<br />

provincial/territorial governments, national/provincial/territorial<br />

sport organizations, and the Coaching Association <strong>of</strong> Canada. For<br />

February 9 - 10, 2013 • 8:30-4:30 pm<br />

The 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Society has chosen Paci� cSport Interior BC to be<br />

a recipient <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the Western Canada Games Legacies. Paci� cSport Interior BC will receive<br />

$50,000 for coach certi� cation support throughout the region.<br />

The fund will be set up for anyone who wishes to take a NCCP Coaching Course and will be<br />

reimbursed upon completion <strong>of</strong> the course. The injection <strong>of</strong> � nancial support will help any person<br />

wanting to advance their knowledge in coach education.<br />

Paci� cSport will also assist the Provincial Sport<br />

Organizations and Local Sport Organizations wishing to<br />

have any NCCP Courses in the Interior BC<br />

region with this funding.<br />

» The Harper Mountain Ski Club<br />

(HMSC), established in 1973,<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers alpine ski racing instruction<br />

for children ages 4-12 (born in<br />

2000-2008) in a fun,<br />

family-orientated atmosphere.<br />

» Club members participate in the<br />

Nancy Greene Ski League and<br />

are taught alpine ski racing<br />

utilizing the Husky Snow Star<br />

Program (Canada’s National<br />

Alpine Ski Skill Development<br />

Program) by certified ski<br />

instructors.<br />

» HMSC <strong>of</strong>fers a freestyle program<br />

for kids ages 8-14 (limited space<br />

available). The freestyle<br />

program is geared towards kids<br />

possessing advanced skier ability<br />

who would like to try an<br />

alternative to alpine racing.<br />

Moguls, park, pipe, aerials, and<br />

big mountain disciplines will be<br />

explored and their various<br />

techniques taught in a fun and<br />

engaging atmosphere by certified<br />

park and freestyle instructors.<br />

» Both programs (alpine racing and<br />

freestyle) will <strong>of</strong>fer the athletes<br />

an opportunity to compete<br />

against other clubs at various<br />

mountains throughout the<br />

Interior (competing is not<br />

mandatory).<br />

The HMSC winter season programs<br />

run Sundays, January through<br />

March, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm<br />

at Harper Mountain (20 minute<br />

drive from <strong>Kamloops</strong>).<br />

The <strong>Kamloops</strong> Track and Field Club<br />

has a proud history <strong>of</strong> producing<br />

successful athletes. We currently<br />

employ a full-time Head Coach,<br />

Regional Coach, and National<br />

Throws Coach and many part-time<br />

coaches to ensure quality programs<br />

from the grassroots to the high<br />

performance athlete as well as a<br />

masters program. We are<br />

committed to ensuring that you or<br />

your child has a positive<br />

experience in the sport <strong>of</strong> athletics.<br />

(All Ages): Fitness-based<br />

» Track Rascals (Ages 6-8): Track<br />

(6 weeks, 1 day/week, Wed,<br />

5:00-6:00 pm).<br />

» Junior Development (Ages 9-12):<br />

Introduction to track and field<br />

and basic skills (15-16 weeks,<br />

2-3 days/week).<br />

» Midget (Ages 13-15): Advanced<br />

training opportunities. No<br />

attendance rules (15-18 weeks,<br />

4-5 days/week).<br />

» Juvenile, Junior, Senior<br />

(Ages 16+): Specialized training<br />

opportunities. Mandatory<br />

attendance (16-18 weeks,<br />

5 days/week).<br />

» Masters (Ages 35+): All-round<br />

training. All events are covered<br />
