"I", the Chinese symbol for the classic "Book of<br />
Change", provided the essential wisdom for this<br />
quilt. Life is a continuum of change; the only constant<br />
is change itself. Brush in hand, I wrote the<br />
character on paper and, with some help from modern<br />
technology, transferred it as machine embroidery<br />
over the block. Hence, "I" was born, or has it<br />
always existed? Inspired by spontaneous, unstructured<br />
play prompted by reading Nancy Crow's latest book.<br />
