Time and Nature Wait For No Man, 2008
Coreen Zerr (Nanaimo, BC)
Cotton and threads; thread painted, embellished. 41.5" x 55.5"
This work was inspired by the pine beetle epidemic
threatening our forests. Threat alters our perception
of time, transforming nature's progress from a
leisurely unfolding of beauty into an apocalyptic
rush from the past and present to a future of
destruction. It is an imaginative vision of what MAY
be, not what WILL be; the new growth symbolizes
hope and capacity for change, which can contain the
present and reconfigure the future.
