The same applies to enterprises as to people: Every enterprise and every human<br />
being has an identity. This is not only how we recognize others, but it also decides<br />
whether we like someone or not.<br />
As an enterprise we need an image, so<br />
that we can be recognized by our cus-<br />
tomers, our suppliers and other external<br />
parties. The image of an enterprise is<br />
especially important for its employees.<br />
Only those employees who are familiar<br />
with the corporate image can identify<br />
with their company and be enthusias-<br />
tic about their work. Enthusiastic em-<br />
ployees, in turn, are a prerequisite for<br />
satisfied and enthused customers.<br />
The purpose of this brochure is to pre-<br />
sent our image to you. We therefore in-<br />
vite you to become acquainted with us as<br />
one of Europe’s leading manufacturers<br />
of luminaires. For this purpose, we<br />
have compiled extensive information<br />
about LITE-LICHT GmbH, its brands and<br />

<strong>ENJOY</strong> <strong>LIGHT</strong><br />
Originally, LITE-LICHT GmbH was founded<br />
in 1969 with the name “Licht und Technik”<br />
(Light and Technology). Since this name, as<br />
well as the alternative “Licht-Technik” (Light<br />
Technology) was not accepted during the<br />
registration procedure, the company was<br />
established under the name “LT Licht-Tech-<br />
nik GmbH” on December 23, 1969.<br />
The company logo was introduced in the<br />
following years as a graphic representation<br />
of the letters “LT”. This was supplemented<br />
by a stylized image of the sun, similar to the<br />
logo of the 1972 Olympics in Munich.<br />
The company’s further development into<br />
the “LITE-LICHT” brand began in the 1970s<br />
when the name “LT Licht-Technik GmbH”<br />
was too long for one customer’s computer<br />
database. This customer therefore sug-<br />
gested shortening the name to “Lite”. That<br />
the term “Lite” corresponds to the Ameri-<br />
can word for “light” was a little known fact<br />
at the time. To express the company’s area<br />
of activity in the name, the word “Licht”<br />
was added to form the name “LITE-LICHT”.<br />
Since that time, professional lighting sys-<br />
tems for commercial, public, governmental<br />
and other prestigious areas of utilization<br />
have been developed and implement-<br />
ed under the brand name “LITE-LICHT”.<br />
Today, the name “LITE-LICHT” is frequently<br />
understood as a play on words, in which<br />
the word “light” is compounded in two<br />
languages. Nevertheless, we still insist on<br />
the original pronounciation of our name.<br />
In 1982, the professional light sector<br />
“LITE-LICHT” was expanded to include the<br />
sale of luminaires for private customers.<br />
In the search for a brand name, Otto Liehr<br />
coined the name “StarLicht” in 1982.<br />
The name “itec” developed in 1987, is an<br />
abbreviation for “Industrie und Technik”<br />
(Industry and Technology). Today, lighting<br />
systems for the manufacturing industry are<br />
sold under the name “itec”.<br />
LITE-LICHT GmbH and its brands<br />
On the 20th December 2000 “LT Licht-<br />
Technik GmbH” was renamed “LITE-LICHT<br />
GmbH”, which as of 2007 is present on<br />
the market under the slogan “Enjoy Light”.<br />
“Enjoy Light” expresses our corporate<br />
image, since an important element of our<br />
corporate mission is that people enjoy the<br />
light from our lighting systems. At the same<br />
time, “Enjoy Light” expresses the way our<br />
company sees itself as a manufacturer<br />
of luminaires. Because we can develop<br />
and produce luminaires that improve our<br />
customers’ quality of life only if we enjoy<br />
light ourselves.<br />

COMPANY HISTORY<br />
The activities of todays LITE-LICHT GmbH go back to a commercial agency founded<br />
in 1948 by Otto Liehr for the sale of luminaires and lamps.<br />
1969 LT Licht-Technik GmbH was founded in Herzebrock by Otto Liehr and his<br />
son Wilfried (Liehr).<br />
1971 Company relocated to the industrial area of Herzebrock. Continuous<br />
expansion of production and warehouse capacities in several phases of<br />
construction: Between 1972 and 1994, a total of 8 production and warehouse<br />
halls were erected, in addition to several administrative buildings.<br />
1982 Introduction of the StarLicht brand for the sale of lights to private customers.<br />
1987 Introduction of the itec brand, initially for the supply of products foreign to<br />
the trade and customized light solutions for the manufacturing industry.<br />
1992 Construction of the plant in Bartensleben (Saxony-Anhalt).<br />
1993 Founding of the first foreign subsidiaries: Morex ‘93 in Hungary and<br />
L-Contact in Poland.<br />
1995 Death of Otto Liehr.<br />
1998 Founding of the distributors STAR-LITE France S.A.R.L. (France),<br />
LITE-LICHT d.o.o. (Croatia) and LITE-LICHT Benelux B.V. (Netherlands).<br />
1999 Founding of the first subsidiary outside of Europe: StarLite Electronics Co.<br />
Ltd. (China). Additional subsidiaries were established in the following years<br />
in Spain (StarLite Ibérica S.L.), Hungary (LITE-LICHT Kft.) and Romania<br />
(LITE-LICHT ROMANIA S.R.L.).<br />
2000 LT Licht-Technik GmbH was renamed LITE-LICHT GmbH.<br />
2006 Robert Bastian was appointed managing director in addition to Wilfried Liehr.<br />

Our topmost goal is to be a successful<br />
enterprise. The achievement of this goal<br />
places high demands on the behaviour of<br />
every one of us. The basis of orientation for<br />
this is a clear corporate image, consisting<br />
of our corporate vision and mission and our<br />

more than just words on a piece of paper<br />
and to represent more than a collection<br />

lights and lighting systems for ergonomically<br />

WELCOME HOME<br />
“Welcome home” is the slogan of Star-<br />
Licht, our brand for building stores. The<br />
brand is distributed throughout Europe in<br />
more than 3,400 DIY stores; in 2006, more<br />
than 2.5 luminaires were sold. To further<br />
reinforce the position of StarLicht as market<br />
leader in the technical light segment,<br />
the market image was revised in 2007 on<br />
the occasion of the 25th anniversary of<br />
StarLicht. This new image includes not<br />
only modern packaging and a new website,<br />
but also more than 25 new products.<br />
The starting point for the new market image<br />
of StarLicht was to revise the assortment<br />
of luminaires. It is now divided into<br />
three segments: budget price, basic and<br />
competence products.<br />
l With “Happy Price”, StarLicht is introducing<br />
a universal budget price assortment.<br />
These budget-priced luminaires for the<br />
living and kitchen areas are sold in a<br />
plastic bag with a cardboard hanger. The<br />
basic assortment “Essential” covers the<br />
classic products for technical lighting.<br />
l “Essential” combines the former segments<br />
“indoors” and “hobby and workshop”.<br />
Although the essential products<br />
are still offered in a semi-open package,<br />
the banderoles have been completely<br />
revised and now show a modern layout.<br />

(„Culina“), (Bathroom) („H 2 O“), home office<br />

The highlights among the product innovations<br />
in these segments include the Como-<br />
W. This innovative product is a wellbeinglight<br />

“H O” and “Mobilia” products, which are<br />

available immediately in a closed box<br />
with a window on the front (see product<br />
highlights). To round off the concept assortment,<br />
illuminated glass shelves and<br />
picture frames with LEDs are offered under<br />
the brand name “StarLED”.<br />
As market leader in the technical light<br />
sector for private customers, StarLicht<br />
is among the leading manufacturers<br />
of energy-saving light solutions.<br />
Since 90 % of our StarLicht lights are in<br />
energy efficiency class A or B, StarLicht<br />
makes an important contribution to the<br />
global warming problem and is also wellequipped<br />
for the increased demand for<br />
energy-saving lights.<br />

issue, we present ourselves as a reliable<br />
supplier of energy-saving light solutions.<br />
This characteristic has been communicated<br />

Since 1987, itec is our OEM brand for the<br />
manufacturing industry. Based on an ex-<br />
tensive assortment of standard luminaires<br />
and lighting accessories, itec designs in-<br />
dividual light creations and accent illumi-<br />
nation for store construction, display and<br />
advertising manufacturers and for kitchen<br />
and furniture manufacturers as well. And<br />
every lighting system is customized for<br />
the special requirements and preferences<br />
of the respective industrial customer.<br />
In the display and advertising technology<br />
sector, itec has specialized particularly in<br />
lighting technology for product presenta-<br />
tions at the point of sale.<br />
Consulting and cooperation in the design of<br />
individual lighting solutions are an essential<br />
aspect of the services offered by itec. This<br />
results in new modular light ideas, which<br />
are developed and manufactured accord-<br />
ing to the individual customer’s require-<br />
ments.<br />
The itec product line includes batten fit-<br />
tings, system lights, various light inserts<br />
in special lengths, filigree LED strips,<br />
recessed halogen luminaires and spots, as<br />
well as electronic accessories.<br />
A special focus is on LED technology,<br />
which has a promising future. The decora-<br />
tive, flexible and diverse application of the<br />
LED is used by itec for the special require-<br />
ments of customers.<br />
LED applications offer advantages such<br />
as long service life, low energy consump-<br />
tion, low temperature levels and diversity<br />
of colours. itec transforms these product<br />

The SLU modular principle<br />
The SLU modular principle gives the customer flexibility with respect to the required components<br />
of the light. That means that the light can be designed according to individual<br />
customer requirements. In the end, the customer purchases only what he really needs.<br />

caps, 2-pin connector system IHV (220-240 V/50-60 Hz)<br />
