Get-together
Some reunions are long and
carefully planned. For example, a
University of Rochester class reunion.
And some reunions are
purely fortuitous, as much a surprise
to the participants as to
anyone else. For example, a recent
scientific meeting at the Forsyth
Dental Center in Boston, which
unexpectedly reunited a Rochester
research team of three decades ago
that had worked in the investigation
of fluoride as a practical
weapon against tooth decay.
Among the "reuners" were Dr.
Harold C. Hodge, former head of
the department of pharmacology,
in which the research was conducted;
Dr. D. Allan Bromley
'52, head of the Wright Nuclear
Structure Laboratory at Yale and
president-elect of the American
Association for the Advancement
of Science, who as a graduate student
produced the samples of
radioactive fluoride using the
University's "baby" cyclotron;
and fellow students Dr. John W.
Hein '52, director of the Forsyth
Center; Dr. Finn Brudevold '52,
head of the department of inorganic
chemistry at Forsyth; and
Dr. Kanwar L. Shourie '49,
former dean of CEM Dental
School in Bombay.

Married: Dr. Kelly Wright (M) and Karen
Baumgartner on June 14 in Richland, Wash.
1977
Dr. Gordon B. Glade (M) is a member of the
pediatric staff at American Fork Hospital in
Provo, Utah.
1978
Dr. John Richards (R) has established an
ophthalmology practice in Plymouth, N.H.
... Married: Dr, David Kwiatkowski (M)
and Kim Warner on June 14 in Owego, N.Y.

Some realistic soul once
observed, "Everything always
takes longer than it does." She
(or he) might well haye added,

Dr. Kenny Bock (M) is a resident at Lancaster
(Pa.) General Hospital.

Joyce Burlingame Shwabe received an award
from the Bell & Howell Education Group as
the top admissions representative for 1980.

Jane Lefever Gunn, clinical coordinator of
obstetrical and gynecological nursing at Hartford
(Conn.) Hospital, received a master's
degree in education from the University of
Hartford.... Marjorie White (GN) is a professor
of nursing at the University of Florida
in Gainesville.

Married: Kathryn Bannigan and Dr. C.
Stephen Connolly on June 25 in New York.
1963
Karen Lyons Taylor is chairman of a study
of the national health care system conducted
for the Clackamas County (Ore.) League of
Women Voters.
1970
Nancy Heller Cohen is author of an article,
"Three Steps to Better Patient Teaching,"
which appeared in the February 1980 issue of
Nursing. She and her husband, Richard, are
the parents of a son, Paul, born in July 1979.

Wilma Brigham has been appointed director
of nursing services at Lockport ( .Y.)
Memorial Hospital.
1975
Born: to Sanford and Cheryl Peck Gerber, a
daughter, Allison Ann, on May 7.

Veda Hoffman Boyer is mental health consultant
and staff development coordinator at Indiana
University. She and her husband,
Clyde, are the parents of two sons.
... Heather Spear-Zino is enrolled in the
master's program in psychiatric-mental health
nursing at Yale University.

Fern Drillings received a master's degree in
nursing, with specialization in women's health
care, from the University of Pennsylvania.

Ellen Anllo is an R.N. in the newborn
nursery at Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Neal Passarell has been named sales manager
at SenDEC Corporation in Rochester.

the M.B.A. program at Boston College.

Cashman on June 21 in Pennsylvania.

Dennis Geraghty is director of network functions
for United Telephone Company of Ohio
in Mansfield.
