Institutional <strong>Terms</strong><br />

TCSPP/CSPP/TCS<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Psychology. <strong>The</strong> preferred second reference is<br />

TCSPP or “<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>School</strong>”; CSOPP was the former acronym; “TCS” is being<br />

phased out as a second reference as it may cause confusion with TCS ES<br />

TCS ES/<strong>The</strong> System<br />

TCS Education System. Please refer to the TCS ES FAQ on the Adjunct Faculty Portal<br />

for more specific information.<br />

Mart<br />

Merch<strong>and</strong>ise Mart. TCSPP has space on the 4 th <strong>and</strong> 13 th floors.<br />

SBGI<br />

Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. SBGI is a TCS ES affiliate located in Santa Barbara,<br />

California that <strong>of</strong>fers undergraduate, graduate, <strong>and</strong> certificate programs in health <strong>and</strong><br />

human service fields such as prenatal <strong>and</strong> perinatal psychology <strong>and</strong> somatic psychology.<br />

CGI<br />

California Graduate Institute. CGI was once a st<strong>and</strong>-alone graduate institute <strong>of</strong> what are<br />

now the Westwood <strong>and</strong> Irvine campuses <strong>of</strong> TCSPP.<br />

PO/Pacific Oaks<br />

Pacific Oaks College. PO is a TCS ES affiliate located in Pasadena, Calif., that <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

undergraduate, graduate, <strong>and</strong> certificate programs in human development, counseling,<br />

<strong>and</strong> teaching.<br />

SoTL<br />

Scholarship <strong>of</strong> Teaching <strong>and</strong> Learning. <strong>The</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice from which teaching workshops,<br />

resources, <strong>and</strong> training are mainly provided. Faculty training <strong>and</strong> development are<br />

housed under this <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

UCLC<br />

University Center <strong>of</strong> Lake County. UCLC is the facility located in Grayslake, IL, where<br />

we <strong>of</strong>fer programs in the online-blended format.<br />

Course Distinctions<br />

On-ground. Course is taught in-person, on-campus <strong>and</strong> may incorporate minor<br />

elements <strong>of</strong> online work via eCollege<br />

Online-Blended. Course is instructed predominantly online (via eCollege) with<br />

one or two “synchronous virtual residency” (one- or two-hour sessions during the<br />

term during which all students must be online simultaneously).


Blended. Course is instructed in-person, typically on selected weekends, <strong>and</strong><br />

online via eCollege. Ex. Programs <strong>of</strong>fered at University Center <strong>of</strong> Lake County in<br />

Grayslake, IL.<br />

Academic <strong>Terms</strong><br />

ABA<br />

Applied Behavior Analysis. We <strong>of</strong>fer doctoral <strong>and</strong> master’s degrees in ABA at our<br />

<strong>Chicago</strong>, L.A., <strong>and</strong> Orange County campuses.<br />

BP<br />

Business Psychology. We <strong>of</strong>fer a Psy.D. degree in Business Psychology at our <strong>Chicago</strong><br />

campus.<br />

I/O<br />

Industrial/Organizational Psychology. We <strong>of</strong>fer master’s degrees in I/O psychology at<br />

our <strong>Chicago</strong>, L.A., <strong>and</strong> Orange County campuses.<br />

MACC<br />

Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts in Clinical Psychology, Counseling (Clinical Counseling). MACC is the<br />

preferred term by faculty, staff, <strong>and</strong> students.<br />

MFT<br />

Marital <strong>and</strong> Family <strong>The</strong>rapy. We <strong>of</strong>fer master’s <strong>and</strong> doctoral degrees in Marital <strong>and</strong><br />

Family <strong>The</strong>rapy at our Los Angeles <strong>and</strong> Orange County campuses. Although the MFT<br />

license also exists in Illinois, it is more prevalent in California.<br />

C&A<br />

Child <strong>and</strong> Adolescent. Several programs <strong>of</strong>fer concentrations <strong>and</strong> tracks in C&A. At the<br />

<strong>Chicago</strong> Campus, the Clinical Psychology, Psy.D. program <strong>of</strong>fers a C&A Track that is a<br />

separate cohort <strong>of</strong> 20-25 students who complete curriculum that intentionally<br />

incorporates elements pertaining to the child <strong>and</strong> adolescent populations. MACC also<br />

has a three-course concentration in C&A. <strong>The</strong> online-blended MAP program also has a<br />

C&A concentration.<br />

MAP<br />

Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts in Psychology. MAP is an online-blended program in general<br />

psychology.<br />

IP<br />

International Psychology. We <strong>of</strong>fer the only Ph.D. program in IP, currently in an onlineblended<br />

format. In addition, there is an IP concentration in the MAP program.<br />

OL


Organizational Leadership. We <strong>of</strong>fer a Ph.D. program in OL in an online-blended format<br />

<strong>and</strong> will also be <strong>of</strong>fered in a weekend-blended model at the <strong>Chicago</strong> campus. In addition,<br />

there is an OL concentration in the MAP program.<br />

LMH<br />

Latino Mental Health. We <strong>of</strong>fer post-bachelor’s <strong>and</strong> post-graduate certificate in LMH<br />

<strong>and</strong> there is also an LMH concentration in the MACC program. <strong>The</strong> Center for Latino<br />

Mental Health is also housed at the 4 th floor <strong>of</strong> the Mart.<br />

Offices<br />

CAE<br />

Center for Academic Excellence. CAE houses the Academic Support Center,<br />

Foundations for Scholarship <strong>and</strong> Practice, <strong>and</strong> IRB <strong>and</strong> Dissertation <strong>and</strong> Processing<br />

Office.<br />

ASC<br />

Academic Support Center. ASC provides writing consultation <strong>and</strong> academic<br />

development opportunities to all students.<br />

APP<br />

Office <strong>of</strong> Applied Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Practice. APP oversees all aspects <strong>of</strong> practicum <strong>and</strong><br />

internship placement <strong>and</strong> training. Each academic department has an APP representative<br />

on faculty.<br />

ILLiad<br />

ILLiad is the name <strong>of</strong> Illinois’ Interlibrary Loan system. When faculty <strong>and</strong> students<br />

make use <strong>of</strong> the library, they can request items not housed at TCSPP through ILLiad.<br />

IRB<br />

Institutional Review Board. IRB examines all research proposals to ensure that<br />

appropriate ethical considerations are followed.<br />

CMDS<br />

Center for Multicultural <strong>and</strong> Diversity Studies. Located in <strong>Chicago</strong>, CMDS <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

workshops, trainings, consulting services, <strong>and</strong> resources for promoting multicultural <strong>and</strong><br />

diversity competence.<br />

CIS<br />

Center for International Studies. CIS sponsors activities, events, <strong>and</strong> on occasion, groups<br />

<strong>of</strong> students from universities from overseas.<br />

OIR<br />

Office <strong>of</strong> Institutional Research. OIR collects, analyzes, <strong>and</strong> presents information to assist<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>School</strong> community in its mission.


Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Terms</strong><br />

EPPP<br />

Examination for Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Practice in Psychology. EPPP (or E-Triple-P) is the<br />

examination that clinical psychology doctoral graduates sit for to become Licensed<br />

Clinical Psychologists.<br />

LPC/LCPC<br />

Licensed Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Counselor/License Clinical Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Counselor. This is the<br />

counseling license that pr<strong>of</strong>essional counselors in Illinois (<strong>and</strong> other states) obtain upon<br />

completing graduate coursework <strong>and</strong> fulfilling practicum <strong>and</strong> internship hours. <strong>The</strong> LPC<br />

is the initial license that carries certain restrictions including third-party insurance billing<br />

<strong>and</strong> the LCPC is the independent license. More information can be found on the state <strong>of</strong><br />

Illinois’ website.<br />

<strong>The</strong> system behind the TCSPP website. <strong>eGo</strong> is the gateway to essential resources such as<br />

email, ePortal, eCollege, <strong>and</strong> notification <strong>and</strong> registration for campus events.<br />

InterviewStream<br />

InterviewStream is a web-based interview <strong>and</strong> screening program that Career Services<br />

provides for students.
