Paul Richey and The Fusionauts<br />
Blending the musical traditions of jazz,<br />
rock, and folk music, Paul Richey and The<br />
Fusionauts take their name to heart. The<br />
band focuses on making new, creative music<br />
that is both exciting to hear and fulfilling to<br />
play using the harmonies of jazz, the energy<br />
of rock, and the singable melodies of folk.<br />
South American and African traditions have<br />
also greatly influenced the sound of the<br />
band as their intricate rhythms are perfectly<br />
suited to the band’s style. The Fusionauts<br />
first formed in 2008 in Toronto under<br />
the name “The Jazz Rock Explosion” and<br />
although the name has changed, the goal<br />
has stayed the same: to perform music that<br />
is challenging for the musicians, engaging<br />
for the audience, and enjoyable for both. For<br />
artists with similar concepts look to Return<br />
to Forever, Yellowjackets, Pat Metheny,<br />
Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, and<br />
Jerry Douglas. Paul Richey also loves to<br />
laugh so don’t be surprised when the show<br />
takes a turn for some stand up comedy<br />
