Our quaint Main Street <strong>of</strong>fers shops with a<br />

long history <strong>of</strong> serving the people <strong>of</strong> Western<br />

<strong>North</strong> <strong>Carolina</strong>.<br />

Jamison Jewelers is the oldest operating<br />

business on Main Street opening for business in<br />

1905. With 105 years <strong>of</strong> service to the people<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Franklin</strong>, today they are one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Franklin</strong>’s<br />

premiere jewelry stores. Mike Stewart bought<br />

the shop in 1984. They work with the finest<br />

designers in the world to create the most unique<br />

and valued jewelry. The diamond center <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

wonderful creations for every occasion.<br />

Macon Furniture Mart has served the folks<br />

in <strong>Franklin</strong> for over 5 decades furnishing<br />

homes <strong>of</strong> families just like yours. Today<br />

Macon Furniture Mart and Buck’s Furniture<br />

continues the tradition <strong>of</strong> quality furniture at<br />

affordable prices. The store opened its doors<br />

in 1954. 2006 saw the retirement <strong>of</strong> owner<br />

Branch “Buck” Buchanan. Continuing his<br />

strong traditions today are second and third<br />

generations <strong>of</strong> his family, Buck’s daughter and<br />

grandson.<br />

And finally anchoring the 50 year plus<br />

tradition is People’s On the Square. People’s<br />

was founded in 1957 and still <strong>of</strong>fers quality<br />

clothing at reasonable prices today. Mr. J.C.<br />

Jacobs has seen many changes since opening his<br />

doors. His desire was never to turn a customer<br />

away. Today People’s continues to <strong>of</strong>fers men<br />

& ladies clothing, work apparel, shoes & boots.<br />

The operational management <strong>of</strong> the business<br />

today rests with J.C.’s daughters. They seek<br />

to uphold the standards their dad set for the<br />

business all those years ago.<br />

The Burrell Building, which was the original<br />

home <strong>of</strong> the Scottish Tartans Museum has<br />

recently been renovated into a state <strong>of</strong> the art<br />

Town Hall housing <strong>Franklin</strong>’s Town Officials.<br />
