Government Relations
One of the key roles of ACEC is to represent, promote and defend the interests of the consulting
engineering industry to the federal government. In the past twelve months, ACEC has undertaken a series
of initiatives on behalf of member firms, which include:
• Presented a written brief and an oral submission during the pre-Budget consultations of
the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, of which two of three ACEC
recommendations were included in the
final report to the House of Commons.
• Participated in the Infrastructure
Minister’s Round Table consultations.
• Conducted and published an interview
with the federal Minister of Transport,
Infrastructure and Communities.
• Participated in a Canadian delegation
to South Carolina involving the
Canadian and American Ambassadors
and senior parliamentarians.
• Sponsored and participated in a
number of social activities involving
parliamentarians and their staff, including
the 150th anniversary of the Canadian
Museum of Civilization

• Participated actively in federal government consultations on procurement issues.
• Published the ACEC newsletter “Concept” sent to all Parliamentarians which explains and
promotes Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS) and ACEC positions.
