Government Relations<br />
One <strong>of</strong> the key roles <strong>of</strong> <strong>ACEC</strong> is to represent, promote and defend the interests <strong>of</strong> the consulting<br />
engineering industry to the federal government. In the past twelve months, <strong>ACEC</strong> has undertaken a series<br />
<strong>of</strong> initiatives on behalf <strong>of</strong> member firms, which include:<br />
• Presented a written brief and an oral submission during the pre-Budget consultations <strong>of</strong><br />
the House <strong>of</strong> Commons Standing Committee on Finance, <strong>of</strong> which two <strong>of</strong> three <strong>ACEC</strong><br />
recommendations were included in the<br />
final report to the House <strong>of</strong> Commons.<br />
• Participated in the Infrastructure<br />
Minister’s Round Table consultations.<br />
• Conducted and published an interview<br />
with the federal Minister <strong>of</strong> Transport,<br />
Infrastructure and Communities.<br />
• Participated in a Canadian delegation<br />
to South Carolina involving the<br />
Canadian and American Ambassadors<br />
and senior parliamentarians.<br />
• Sponsored and participated in a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> social activities involving<br />
parliamentarians and their staff, including<br />
the 150th anniversary <strong>of</strong> the Canadian<br />
Museum <strong>of</strong> Civilization<br />

• Participated actively in federal government consultations on procurement issues.<br />
• Published the <strong>ACEC</strong> newsletter “Concept” sent to all Parliamentarians which explains and<br />
promotes Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS) and <strong>ACEC</strong> positions.<br />
