Uniform Shop News HELP!! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED It is that time of year again when I desperately need help to pack up all the Uniform Orders for 2013. I will be holding a working bee everyday for the following week to hopefully get this job done: Monday 29.10.2012 to Friday 02.11.2012 Everyday 9.00am -‐ 1.00pm So, please, if you have any free time during this week and can spare a few hours/days/even just 1 hour -‐ all help will be greatly appreciated. There will be morning tea supplied each day, so come along and meet other parents while you pack or stop for a coffee and chat. If you are able to help with this huge job please phone, email or come in and let me know as soon as possible. Thanking you for you ongoing support. Please bring cash in small denominations if you wish to purchase. If you are bringing items for sale, please ensure items are clean, in a snap lock plastic bag and labelled with your name, number and item details. Please provide a self labelled envelope for collection of money. **IMPORTANT** If you have previously lodged items, please come and COLLECT any monies, and to COLLECT what items have not been sold. Due to over stock and quality control we are asking all parents who have items for sale to COLLECT their unsold ITEMS and their MONEY by the November 20 sale. Otherwise, the items and money will be donated to the school and P&F. Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any queries. From the Counsellors The third newsletter article for this term by parenting expert Michael Grose titled “Give your parenting a spring clean” is just fantastic. There are 10 excellent tips that you can check yourself against, and maybe make some adjustments if you are falling into some of the unhealthy parenting traps. This can be a simple audit around what’s happening in your family, be it doing things for your children that they should be doing for themselves, racing in to school when your child forgets their lunch, solving your child’s problem for them etc. etc. Don’t be a rescuer, be an enabler! Allowing your child to make mistakes and deal with consequences is what develops resilience. One of the best books I know and highly recommend is “7 Habits for Highly Effective Families” by Stephen Covey. Parenting should be intentional, and not just a product of what you unconsciously liked and didn’t like in your own life experience. The world is a very different place to when we were parented, and we have to be much more alert and intentional around the choices we make for our children. Hopefully this article will help to stimulate your thinking around your own child-‐rearing practice. Anne Lambert & Susan Brown Norco Caps Although this wonderful fundraiser is drawing to a close in 3 months time please continue to collect the Norco caps with the 10 cent logo printed on the caps. The College has become the proud owner of several shade tents over the years put to good use by our students at various activities and carnivals. For our latest cap donations we received a cheque for $363.00. Please continue to ask your friends, extended family, restaurant and coffee shop employees to collect the caps. There is a Norco collection box located in Student Reception for depositing of the caps. Thank you everyone for your fantastic support with this easy fundraiser.
