is regarded as one of the best sales people<br />

– always ready, but never ‘pushy’. Her unselfi sh<br />

service to her downline is remarkable <strong>and</strong> she<br />

is always willing to walk an extra mile for<br />

people, whether consultants or clients. After<br />

more than 30 years she is still passionate <strong>and</strong><br />

always comes up with innovative ideas. With<br />

her wicked sense of humour, Elmien is also<br />

FRANSIE DU PLESSIS<br />

Fransie du Plessis is a woman we can<br />

effectiveness <strong>and</strong> a willingness to<br />

help, despite the challenges. They<br />

teach people to be more patient<br />

<strong>and</strong> seek solutions. The only thing<br />

we want to know is: Do these two<br />

LULU VILJOEN<br />

She is always positive, depite being<br />

wheelchair-bound. She struggles to<br />

eat, due to her weakened h<strong>and</strong>s, but<br />

she still regards every day as a<br />

Sanette Horn is always friendly <strong>and</strong><br />

positive, despite major challenges in<br />

LESLIE GROBLER<br />

Leslie Grobler is one of the best<br />

examples of the saying, “Dynamite<br />

comes in small packages”. She is<br />

always available to be a speaker at<br />

her consultants’ functions, even if it means she<br />

has to drive more than 600km to attend. She<br />

is always available when needed, motivating<br />

her consultants to boost their businesses. She<br />

has been called the ‘walking <strong>and</strong> talking<br />

encyclopaedia’, because when consultants are<br />

not sure about something they immediately<br />

know whom to contact. Her energy knows no<br />

limits, <strong>and</strong> she also makes the time to be a<br />

friend. With her magic she has transformed<br />

many unemployed, unappealing <strong>and</strong><br />

demotivated people into superstars.<br />

CHANTELLE WITTROWSKI<br />

My sister, Chantelle Wittrowski, is an<br />

avid <strong>Annique</strong> user <strong>and</strong> mother of<br />

two, who lives in East London. She<br />

remained positive, despite her<br />

second child, Justin, having his fi rst heart<br />

operation when he was only 10 days old.<br />

When he was rushed to hospital doctors told<br />

her that he was having heart failure <strong>and</strong> they<br />

weren’t sure if he would survive, let alone pull<br />

through heart surgery. He survived <strong>and</strong> had<br />

his second heart operation (by the renowned<br />

Dr Susan Vosloo) shortly thereafter. He is now<br />

a happy 8-year old <strong>and</strong> his recovery <strong>and</strong> life is<br />

nothing short of a miracle! Throughout this<br />

ordeal, my sister’s strength was admirable.<br />

She had a second challenge that happened at<br />

the beginning of the year. On 10 January her<br />

husb<strong>and</strong> was knocked off his bicycle by a<br />

bakkie whilst training for his third Iron Man<br />

event. She was called to the emergency room<br />

to basically say goodbye to him (the morgue<br />

had already been called). He died twice but<br />

was resuscitated, despite his extensive<br />

injuries. Chantelle remained calm through the<br />

ordeal <strong>and</strong> today Ralf is a walking miracle,<br />

already training for his next race. One of the<br />

keys to his recovery was a bottle of <strong>Annique</strong><br />

Miracle Tissue Oil which he used on the scar<br />

on his chin, which you can hardly see. My<br />

sister embodies everything a mother, friend<br />

<strong>and</strong> wife should be. She is faithful, strong,<br />

positive <strong>and</strong> dedicated. She always has a<br />

smile on her face <strong>and</strong> she has proven to me<br />

that, even when faced with overwhelming<br />

odds, she is a fi ghter. I do believe her positive<br />

attitude has come down to her choices – she<br />

has chosen to move on, to not let her<br />

circumstances make her a victim <strong>and</strong> to<br />

SKIN CARE TREATMENT<br />

Taking MOISTURE <strong>and</strong><br />

the HEALING of your<br />

skin to a deeper level<br />

In June <strong>Annique</strong> launched the new Moisture<br />

Serum <strong>and</strong> in July the Intense Repair Serum.<br />

Defi nition of a serum<br />

Serums are highly concentrated booster treatment products<br />

designed to treat specifi c skin concerns. The ingredients in<br />

serums are more concentrated than that in moisturisers. Serums<br />

penetrate deeper into the skin than regular skin care products<br />

<strong>and</strong>, as a result, work faster <strong>and</strong> better.<br />

How to use a serum<br />

• Between 20 <strong>and</strong> 30 : Every second day<br />

• 30+ : Every day<br />

• 40+ : Up to twice a day<br />

If your client has a damaged, dull or very dry skin she can<br />

use a serum up to twice a day, regardless of her age.<br />

Skin Care Routine<br />

• Use a serum before your moisturiser. Wait at least a<br />

minute before applying your moisturiser.<br />

• Pour two or more drops into the palms of your h<strong>and</strong>s<br />

<strong>and</strong> then press onto skin.<br />

• Absorption will be improved with regular use of a scrub.<br />

I have an oily skin – can I use a serum? Oily<br />

skins also show evidence of dullness, ageing<br />

etc. Because intense moisture serums contain<br />

less oil than a moisturiser, this serum is perfect<br />

for oily skin. The intense repair serum will help to improve damage <strong>and</strong><br />

irritation <strong>and</strong>, as a result, help the skin to produce less oil.<br />

Must I choose between using a serum or moisturiser?<br />

A serum cannot replace your moisturiser <strong>and</strong> your moisturiser cannot<br />

replace a serum.<br />

If I use Miracle Tissue Oil do I still need to use a serum?<br />

Defi nitely. Miracle Tissue Oil only reaches the epidermis<br />

layer of your skin. Serums penetrate into the dermis.<br />

As one of <strong>Annique</strong>’s top 60 consultants,<br />

Lynn van Niekerk is a lady of many talents. Not only<br />

does she have a passion for <strong>Annique</strong>’s amazing skin<br />

care range, she is also a qualifi ed teacher, music<br />

teacher <strong>and</strong> a beauty pageant expert! All this, while<br />

she is busy completing her law degree.<br />

Early years<br />

My primary school years were awesome <strong>and</strong> I had the most<br />

amazing teachers. I was head girl in st<strong>and</strong>ard 5 – which was<br />

the cherry on the cake for me. I also loved to play tennis<br />

<strong>and</strong> swim. Our family lived in Roodepoort, <strong>and</strong> then moved<br />

to Krugersdorp in the middle of my st<strong>and</strong>ard 6 year <strong>and</strong> I<br />

have been in Krugersdorp ever since.<br />

I went to school at Krugersdorp High <strong>and</strong> was part of the<br />

drum majorette squad <strong>and</strong> the shooting team in Matric.<br />

Lady with a good<br />

heart<br />

I currently serve on the board of directors at the West R<strong>and</strong><br />

Chamber of Commerce <strong>and</strong> Tourism (fi rst woman in 109<br />

years!). Through this involvement I contributed to many<br />

projects in my town, like the Cradle of<br />

Hope for abused women <strong>and</strong> children,<br />

old age homes <strong>and</strong> school projects.<br />

I have been a regular adjudicator for<br />

school beauty pageants for the past<br />

19 years, as well as Miss Teen World SA,<br />

Face of the Millennium <strong>and</strong> Miss Earth SA.<br />

Being an <strong>Annique</strong> consultant offered me the opportunity to enjoy<br />

fi nancial freedom. I could buy business premises, pay for my own<br />

car <strong>and</strong> invest in my daughter’s future. <strong>Annique</strong> provides you an<br />

opportunity to change someone’s life completely, be it skin care,<br />

health or fi nancially.<br />

During my career as <strong>Annique</strong> consultant, I have learnt to<br />

persevere, to render excellent service, to gain knowledge about<br />

the product, to work hard <strong>and</strong> to advertise products <strong>and</strong> the lifechanging<br />

date. Within a year we were<br />

engaged <strong>and</strong> married. After<br />

10 years, at the age of 36, my<br />

daughter, Cherè was born.<br />

She is now 17 years old <strong>and</strong><br />

is an absolute blessing!<br />

Despite their performance<br />

this year, I am still an avid<br />

Lions supporter. I enjoy<br />

listening to classical music<br />

<strong>and</strong> also support our<br />

Afrikaans singers as well. I<br />

attended Skouspel in 2011,<br />

which was really an amazing<br />

experience! We can be<br />

proud of the talent we have<br />

in South Africa!<br />

Crossing paths with <strong>Annique</strong><br />

In May 1985 I was invited to the house of Sonja van Niekerk for a demonstration of<br />

<strong>Annique</strong> products. At that time I was using another direct selling skin care br<strong>and</strong>. I had<br />

an extremely dry skin <strong>and</strong> knew it needed more than I was providing it with. I was also<br />

intrigued by the fact that <strong>Annique</strong> had a truly unique skin care routine, in that the pH<br />

Balancing Freshener gets applied as the last step in the skin care routine. After a week<br />

Highlights<br />

Highlights of my <strong>Annique</strong> career are the overseas trips. Nobody can<br />

treat you the way <strong>Annique</strong> does - nothing short of just absolutely<br />

the best! The <strong>Annique</strong> ladies’ breakfasts organised with the Mogale<br />

Chamber of Commerce <strong>and</strong> Industry has always been a highlight in<br />

past years. There are so many highlights at <strong>Annique</strong>! Wow!<br />

I honour my Maker <strong>and</strong> I am thankful for the health <strong>and</strong> strength<br />

he has bestowed on me. I draw immense amounts of strength from<br />

my faith, but never forget the power of family in times of need. On<br />

a more professional level, Dr <strong>Annique</strong> Theron is the person who<br />

radically changed my life, as well as the consultant who introduced<br />

me to <strong>Annique</strong>.<br />

My advice to new consultants is to gain as much knowledge as<br />

possible, to persevere, to work hard <strong>and</strong> to make a decision<br />

to live a better <strong>and</strong> healthier lifestyle, because women are the<br />

cornerstones in our community. The opportunities are there – take<br />

the challenge. Opportunities are wherever you are. Don’t kill the<br />

<strong>Annique</strong> consultants are already<br />

Vietnam. To give us a taste of<br />

this exquisite country, we spoke<br />

to previous <strong>Annique</strong> CEO, Henk<br />

Theron, about his experience in<br />

Vietnam.<br />

FOOD<br />

The food consists predominantly of rice in all<br />

forms, along with sea food. You will have to<br />

practice with chopsticks before you depart<br />

to Vietnam (refer to the July Replique for<br />

instructions on how to use chopsticks), as it<br />

is the major eating utensil. The Vietnamese<br />

people do not really use milk – we only<br />

found it in hotels. Strangely, they rather use<br />

condense milk. Vietnamese do not drink<br />

sugar in their coffee. Meat is rather scarce – I<br />

once ate water buffalo meat (or so I hope!),<br />

which was quite nice <strong>and</strong> tender. A tip: order<br />

medium if you want medium-rare meat.<br />

TOURISM<br />

There are boat trips on the Mekong River<br />

in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). A<br />

must visit is defi nitely Halong Bay in the<br />

north. Take time in Halong Bay to sail on a<br />

Chinese “Junk”. This nomination was also a<br />

c<strong>and</strong>idate for the World Heritage Site area,<br />

for which Table Mountain also qualifi ed.<br />

PEOPLE<br />

The people are friendly <strong>and</strong> especially<br />

admire our Western women, because of<br />

their pointy noses!

LANGUAGE<br />

At the markets, people hardly speak English <strong>and</strong> the<br />

most common expression is “Make me happy, please!” if<br />

they want visitors to buy something. They eat everything!<br />

In one market we saw something that looked like a<br />

python, waiting to be purchased for dinner!<br />

CLOTHING<br />

A lot of the clothing in Vietnam is made of<br />

mohair. North Face clothing <strong>and</strong> back packs, as<br />

well as Timberl<strong>and</strong> shoes are manufactured<br />

in Vietnam <strong>and</strong> are thus quite cheap,<br />

compared to South Africa. I priced a<br />

Fossil watch there, which was 35%<br />

cheaper than in South Africa. We<br />

also found a lot of fake br<strong>and</strong>s at<br />

the fl ea markets. As an example, I<br />

bought an amazing Breitling watch for<br />

$30 <strong>and</strong> was somehow not really surprised<br />

when it stopped working after the fi rst week.<br />

INFLUENCES<br />

Transport has a strong Japanese infl uence, with the<br />

compliments of Honda. It feels like an adventure to<br />

cross a street.<br />

I am a regular supplement user, but found that my<br />

a little daughter, Alohne. Alohne<br />

was one year old when she was admitted<br />

to hospital, but nobody could fi nd out<br />

what was wrong with her. She had constant<br />

chest problems <strong>and</strong> not even antibiotics<br />

could help. I then advised Michelle to<br />

Despite kicking <strong>and</strong> screaming, despite throwing one<br />

tantrum after the other, even despite lamenting with<br />

sad, tear-fi lled eyes <strong>and</strong> droopy shoulders, the advent of<br />

the years will not crumble or slip one rung of the ladder;<br />

slip, tumble, or fade away into eternal darkness. The<br />

advent of the years will not STOP! No matter what you do,<br />

it will be to no avail … until the cows come home…<br />

Some months ago the umpteenth birthday in my life came<br />

looming over my shoulders while I was not watching. I<br />

had just turned my back to pay attention to the one or<br />

other precious, almost extinct miniscule plant venturing<br />

out into the alien <strong>and</strong> not-so friendly habitat of ours,<br />

when the awareness of this imminent birthday hit me like<br />

a ton of bricks - unannounced, unavoidable, unwelcome<br />

indeed. However, one has to be on your best behaviour<br />

at all times as far as the sneaking nature of time per se is<br />

concerned.<br />

And taking life seriously, I can assure you that at this very<br />

moment I am asking myself: Is 83+ a blessing or is ageing<br />

for the birds? But let’s get a bit analytical: Is 83+ a blessing<br />

in disguise or is it something that should send me helterskelter<br />

into hiding? No use, I can’t run away. I may just as<br />

well throw in the towel, tackle the bull by the horns <strong>and</strong><br />

challenge it head on.<br />

mischievous nature of time to intertwine itself into the<br />

Step 1<br />

The new consultant completes a<br />

the registration fee of R144 <strong>and</strong> will then<br />

receive an <strong>Annique</strong> membership number.<br />

This unique number must be on all orders,<br />

product complaints <strong>and</strong> correspondence<br />

Step 2<br />

After the NEW consultant has registered,<br />

the fi rst order must be a kit order. The<br />

Example 2: During August 2011 a consultant reported group sales of<br />

R8200 (excluding non-discountable items <strong>and</strong> fi rst-time kits) <strong>and</strong> achieves<br />

a 20% growth with sales of R9840 in August 2012. He/she will qualify for<br />

the gift in B<strong>and</strong> 4.<br />

Example 3: A consultant achieved group sales of R8200 in August 2011<br />

<strong>and</strong> R14 500 in August 2012, translating to 43% growth. This consultant<br />

will qualify for the gift in B<strong>and</strong> 5.<br />

Example 4: In August 2011 a consultant reported sales of R4800 <strong>and</strong> in<br />

August 2012 sales of R5200 (7.6%). This consultant cannot claim a gift as<br />

the minimum growth requirement of 15% has not been met.<br />

Example 5: A new consultant who joined in January 2012 has no August<br />

2011 group sales record <strong>and</strong> aims for group sales of R7200 (B<strong>and</strong> 3) in<br />

August 2012. She does, however, only achieve R4000. She qualifi es for a<br />
